When someone tells me they don’t like to read, I always cringe a little.

Not because reading is a hobby everyone should love, but because books are one of the most powerful tools we have for learning, healing, and personal growth.

In the counseling world, there is actually a term for this: bibliotherapy — the intentional use of books as a therapeutic tool to help people better understand themselves, their relationships, and the challenges they face in life.

I often tell clients that you can see the best therapist on the planet, but at some point the real work happens between sessions. Growth requires reflection, learning, and engaging with new ideas. Books can become powerful companions in that process.

That’s why I’ve started curating a recommended reading collection called the Silver Lining Library. The first list focuses on relationships and couples counseling, featuring books written by respected clinicians and experts whose work has helped countless people navigate relationship challenges.
