Shaving cream you say? And food coloring? Who knew these two simple ingredients could bring us such joy and make us laugh so hard! Our shaving cream mountains were an unexpected and happy accident!

February has barely begun, and the residents at Wheelock have been BUSY! Starting with an outing to paint ceramics and then a corn hole tournament against Harvest Hill Assisted Living, to in-house painting projects and making valentines! We also had the opportunity to have our nails painted by our local high school volunteer! We haven’t even started activities related to Presidents’ Day, the Olympics, and Mardi Gras! Buckle up, it’s a busy month!!

Have you ever heard of “Minute to Win It?” Well, Wheelock residents took on 60 second challenges that included cup stacking, ping pong ball bouncing, cotton ball blowing, holding a spoon in their mouths while moving a ping pong ball into a cup, and naming as many American presidents as possible. You’re never too old to make a fool of yourself!!

Today we were visited by Officer Fogol and K-9 Aris from the Lebanon Police Department Canine Unit. Not only did we learn about the role of dogs in police work, but Officer Fogol gave us a lot is general information about canine behavior and anatomy. For example, if someone walked into a room with a chocolate cake, we would smell a chocolate cake. A dog on the other hand, smells flour, sugar, egg, cocoa, and vanilla! It was a fascinating and informative talk, and we all left with our own K-9 Aris pin!
