🖤 A little update from the apothecary table🖤
The shoppe is officially set back up, and the website is live again for orders. 🌿

At this time, Herbs & Sympathy is operating through online ordering only, with options available for shipping and local delivery while the business continues through this season of transition.

I’m still working through new processes, updated routines, inventory, ordering flow, and what this next chapter will look like as we slowly and intentionally move toward becoming The BCA — The Black Cat Apothecary.

Thank you for your patience, grace, and continued support while I rebuild this in a way that is sustainable, grounded, and rooted in care.

For my long-time clients and regulars: if there is something you’ve depended on from us, please reach out. I’ll continue fulfilling what I can on a case-by-case basis as I work through the transition.

To our beloved Herbs & Sympathy community,

Thank you for the love, trust, and support you have shown us over the years. It has been an honor to share herbs, tea, education, and care with this community.

We also want to extend thanks to Serpent's Key for the chapter we shared together, and we wish them the very best moving forward.

We also want to share that Faith is officially retiring. Her wisdom, dedication, and care helped shape Herbs & Sympathy into what it has been, and we are deeply grateful for everything she has contributed over the years.

At this time, Beka is stepping back to focus on personal healing and well-being in order to better care for herself and hopefully serve the community in a more sustainable way in the future. Right now, we are in the midst of moving, sorting, and navigating this transition.

For our longtime clients and regulars, if there is something specific you rely on, please reach out to us directly. While we are not operating in our usual capacity right now, we may still be able to accommodate some requests on a case-by-case basis during this transition.

Backyard plant check-in but 1st - reminder the serpents key is operating a normal schedule today. Herbs & Sympathy has taken the day to catch up our capsule line. Herbs & Sympathy reopens Tuesday at 10am.

Now back to the plants!
Right now, many yards are full of early spring growers like violets and purple dead nettle. These plants are incredibly common and easy to overlook, but learning to recognize what is already growing around you is one of the first steps in herbal education.

In these photos:
💜 The low purple flowers with rounded to heart-shaped leaves are violets
💗 The fuzzy, layered plant with pinkish-purple flowers is purple dead nettle

Before harvesting or using any wild or yard-grown plant, always ask:
— Has this area been sprayed?
— Has it been treated with w**d killer or lawn chemicals?
— Is it near a roadside, sidewalk treatment area, or pet traffic zone?
— Am I 100% sure of identification?

Never use plant matter from an area that may have been treated with pesticides or herbicides.

The best herbal practice starts with safety, respect, and good identification. 🌱

Tonight’s reminder from Herbs & Sympathy 🌿

The apothecary only will be closed tomorrow for Zombie Day and will reopen Tuesday at 10am inside The Serpent’s Key Shoppe & Sanctuary.

If you’ve been meaning to grab capsules or place a request, now is a great time to reach out. Our capsule stock has been hit hard lately and I’ll be spending the weekend working on small-batch restocks to get shelves filled back up.

Because everything is made in small batches with care, some items may take a little time to replenish — so if there’s something you need, please message me as soon as possible so I can plan accordingly and get it into the next round of production. 💚

Restock day in the apothecary 🌿✨

Today I’m reblending teas, placing an herb order, and filling shelves back up little by little. If there’s something you’ve been waiting for, now is a great time to message me.
If you need capsules for pickup, please let me know today so I can make sure they’re ready. Everything here is made in small batches, and capsule stock has been getting hit hard lately, so a heads up always helps.

Just a reminder: the apothecary only will be closed tomorrow for Easter / Zombie Day and will reopen Tuesday at 10am.

We have soooo many succulents from our friend !! Come snag a lil plant baby to come home with you!

The Serpent's Key Shoppe and Sanctuary is located at 28 Carlisle St. in Hanover PA! We are open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sundays 11am-4pm. Closed Mondays!

Parking is free in Hanover Borough after 6pm and all day Sunday! We recommend parking in Hanover Borough Parking Lot 4 across from the Royal Farms! Check our pinned video on Instagram/Facebook for more parking tips and how to find our store!

The Serpent's Key is Wheelchair Accessible, has an accessible restroom, ample seating areas, is service animal friendly, and features sensory lighting for those with photophobia or other light sensory concerns. Incense is used on occasion, but we're happy to hold off if you call ahead!
