CAN Dream Foundation

CAN Dream Foundation CAN (Curing Alzheimer’s Now) Dream Foundation is a 501(c)3. The goal of the organization is to educate, empower, ignite & cultivate concerning Alzheimer's.

Our Goals are to:
- Empower students to be active participants in the Alzheimer’s movement
- Encourage students to be change agents for Alzheimer’s in their community
- Ignite an increase in the pipeline of students into STEM careers or other innovative fields that would positively impact Alzheimer’s disease
- Cultivate resources to achieve the CAN Dream mission

Our grass roots organization is represented on the board of the Memory and Aging Community Advisory Board (MACAB) at Johns Hopkins Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (JH ARDC). We are partners with the Medical Education Resource Initiative for Teens (MERIT) and JH ADRC to provide the CAN Dream Mentoring & Scholarship Program. This program aids in raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and encouraging minority high school students, who aspire to pursue a career in medicine, to focus their studies within neurological diseases or social work with affected families; thus creating a positive impact on the overall effect of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Our hope is to expand the scope of this program to reach students who may not have expressed an interest in careers in medicine and encourage them to do so. CAN Dream offers students the opportunity to complete service learning requirements by providing education and advocacy about Alzheimer’s disease with the CAN Dream Service Learning Project.
