🎁 Holiday Cheer in Action! 🎄

On December 18, Kendal at Hanover was filled with laughter, generosity, and plenty of festive spirit as residents and staff came together to assemble 150 holiday gift bags for the Grafton County Senior Citizens Council (GCSSC). Each bag—thoughtfully packed with cozy essentials like gloves and socks, handy flashlights, and a few extra treats—was created to bring warmth and cheer to Meals on Wheels clients throughout our community.

“Being able to share these gift bags with Meals on Wheels recipients is a heartfelt way to care for our wider community and add a bit of joy to the holiday season,” said Beth Vettori, CEO of Kendal at Hanover. “It speaks to the deep sense of kindness and connection that our residents and staff bring to this time of year.”

The gift bags were picked up by GCSSC staff and will be shared this holiday season through their Meals on Wheels program.

We are grateful to partner with to help make the holidays a little brighter and warmer for our neighbors. 💕

🎃 Halloween fun at Kendal at Hanover!👻

Our community came alive with laughter and costumes as residents, staff, and the children from our Early Learning Center celebrated Halloween together. From creative costumes to some special treats, it was a day full of joy, connection, and plenty of Halloween spirit across generations.

💜 Kendal at Hanover Walks to End Alzheimer’s
Yesterday, residents and staff from Kendal at Hanover joined walkers from across the Upper Valley at Colburn Park in Lebanon for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Together, we walked in support of the fight to end this disease and to honor those affected by it.
Several residents also took part in a walk around Kendal, showing that every step, near or far, makes a difference.
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this meaningful cause. 💜

Connections: A Celebration of Creativity, Communication, & Community was introduced on September 19 at the Kilton Public Library Gallery in West Lebanon, with an inspiring reception celebrating the artwork of Kendal at Hanover residents living with Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia.
Guests enjoyed 30 vibrant paintings that speak to the universal desire to connect.
“Creativity lives in all of us, regardless of memory loss,” shared Erica Myers, Memory Care Resource Coordinator at Kendal at Hanover.
We were honored by the heartfelt remarks of Howard Goodrow, Executive Director of the Vermont Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, who reminded us that Alzheimer’s affects memory, but it doesn’t erase the person or their ability to express themselves.
Neely McNulty, Hood Museum Curator of Education, provided insights on how Art opens a space where we can meet beyond words and beyond memory.
Connections is on display through October 30.

Connections…A Celebration of Creativity, Communication, & Community 🎨
Friday, September 19, at the Kilton Library Gallery in West Lebanon
Please join us for the opening reception of this unique art exhibition, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. ⏰
This vibrant and joyful exhibition of 30 paintings, created by residents of Kendal at Hanover living with Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia, celebrates the powerful human desire to connect.
The reception will feature opening remarks celebrating the heart and vision behind Connections, offering a chance to gather, reflect, and celebrate the human spirit. Light refreshments will be served.
Connections will be on display at the Kilton Public Library Gallery from September 6 through October 30.
Presented in collaboration with the Upper Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Kendal at Hanover.

Team Kendal & The Prouty
$35,000 Raised - A New Record!
This year, residents and staff came together with purpose and heart - raising $35,000 in support of cancer research, support services, and awareness through The Prouty.
On July 13, dozens of residents and staff supported the 44th annual event, either by participating or volunteering. More than 300 Prouty Walkers passed through the community, greeted with cold water, snacks, and plenty of encouragement.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so impactful.

Our amazing Rehab Team, including two staff members officially trained in CARFiT, recently hosted a CARFiT check-up for Kendal residents! This free service helps make sure residents are as safe and comfortable as possible behind the wheel. 👏

✔️ Safe distance from the steering wheel (pictured)
✔️ Easy access to pedals
✔️ Proper seat belt and headrest alignment
✔️ Working lights and signals

🌟 Spotlight on Resident Leadership! 🌟

We're proud to share that Kendal at Hanover resident Donna Reilly, right, was a featured panelist on a powerful three-person discussion during the LeadingAge Maine/New Hampshire Annual Conference last week. The discussion, entitled “Resident Leadership in Building Collegial Communities,” was a highlight of the conference.

This thoughtful conversation explored how residents, serving as both informal and formal leaders, help create caring, respectful, and inclusive environments where everyone can thrive. Donna shared her perspective on fostering connections and community, demonstrating how leadership can emerge from every corner of a Life Plan Community.
