Team Kendal & The Prouty
$35,000 Raised - A New Record!
This year, residents and staff came together with purpose and heart - raising $35,000 in support of cancer research, support services, and awareness through The Prouty.
On July 13, dozens of residents and staff supported the 44th annual event, either by participating or volunteering. More than 300 Prouty Walkers passed through the community, greeted with cold water, snacks, and plenty of encouragement.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so impactful.

🚗✅ KaH CARFiT Complete! ✅🚗

Our amazing Rehab Team, including two staff members officially trained in CARFiT, recently hosted a CARFiT check-up for Kendal residents! This free service helps make sure residents are as safe and comfortable as possible behind the wheel. 👏

Our experts checked:
✔️ Mirror positions
✔️ Safe distance from the steering wheel (pictured)
✔️ Easy access to pedals
✔️ Proper seat belt and headrest alignment
✔️ Working lights and signals

It's all about promoting safety, confidence, and comfort on the road! 🚘💡💺

🌟 Spotlight on Resident Leadership! 🌟

We're proud to share that Kendal at Hanover resident Donna Reilly, right, was a featured panelist on a powerful three-person discussion during the LeadingAge Maine/New Hampshire Annual Conference last week. The discussion, entitled “Resident Leadership in Building Collegial Communities,” was a highlight of the conference.

This thoughtful conversation explored how residents, serving as both informal and formal leaders, help create caring, respectful, and inclusive environments where everyone can thrive. Donna shared her perspective on fostering connections and community, demonstrating how leadership can emerge from every corner of a Life Plan Community.

Kendal at Hanover is a retirement community with hundreds of residents living out their golden years, but many of them spend time with the youngest generation. And they don't have to go far.

🎉 We’re proud to share that Kendal at Hanover has been recognized by the NH Breastfeeding Taskforce with two special awards!
🏆 Breastfeeding Friendly Employer — Thanks to our supportive policies and the creation of our dedicated Mother’s Room in Barclay/Pickett.
🏆 Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care — Our Early Learning Center met key requirements, including staff training in milk safety and breastfeeding education.

On April 7, representatives from the NH Breastfeeding Taskforce visited our community to present the awards and tour our campus.

We're honored to support our staff and families in meaningful ways that promote health, balance, and inclusivity. 💙👶

We are thrilled to share that Kendal at Hanover’s Early Learning Center (ELC) has been named a Program of Merit by Generations United, a national leader in intergenerational initiatives! 🎉 This prestigious honor recognizes our dedication to creating meaningful connections between young children and older adults—enriching lives and strengthening our community.

Generations United awards this distinction to programs that go above and beyond in fostering intergenerational engagement. A virtual celebration on Feb. 20, 2025, highlighted the ELC’s achievements alongside other top programs across the country.

“We are honored to receive this recognition,” said Abbi Donahue, Director of the ELC. “This reflects our dedication to fostering meaningful connections that benefit all ages.”

🌿 That’s a Wrap on “Are Plastics Forever?” Week! ♻️

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in and organized this incredible week of learning and action—especially our amazing Plastics Committee! 💚

Throughout the week of January 27th, residents and staff explored the impact of plastics on our planet and discovered ways to create a more sustainable future:
🎬 Monday Movie Night: Plastic Wars opened our eyes to the challenges of plastic waste.
📺 Revolving Videos: Lunchtime & dinnertime featured eye-opening sustainability clips in our Common Room.
📚 Informational Displays: Showcasing non-plastic alternatives, library books, and where to find sustainable products.
🎤 Inspiring Speakers:
✅ Reagan Bissonnett (Northeast Resource Recovery Assoc.) shared valuable recycling and waste management insights.
✅ Cindy Heath (NH Network Plastic Working Group) highlighted the importance of reducing plastic use in our communities.

Our residents and staff's enthusiasm and engagement made this week a success! Let’s keep the momentum going and continue making eco-friendly choices every day. 🌏💙
