A guesthouse for hospital patients and their families since 1978.

Maynard House is a home away from home with eight bedrooms, shared bathrooms, full kitchen, living room, and dining area. We are a low cost option for people traveling a distance to medical treatment or to stay close to a hospitalized loved one. Patients of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital and the VA Medical Center in WRJ, VT are eligible to stay.

✨ Staff Spotlight: Cathy ✨

Meet Cathy, our Evening Assistant Operations Manager, who keeps Maynard House running smoothly Monday through Thursday evenings. Cathy looks forward to greeting guests as they arrive and helping them settle in comfortably for their stay. She also warmly welcomes our evening volunteers and supports them as they care for the house and our guests.

When she’s not at Maynard House, Cathy loves being outdoors: running, hiking, and birding with her sons. She also enjoys exploring Vermont’s small towns and soaking in all the beautiful places our region has to offer.

We’re so grateful for Cathy’s calm presence, kindness, and dedication to making every guest feel at home. 💙

🚨 Urgent Need at Maynard House 🚨

We need your help! Our chimney is in urgent need of repair, and to keep Maynard House safe, warm, and fully operational, we must raise $14,000 to complete this critical work as soon as possible.

The good news: we have grants in progress, and we’re deeply grateful for that support. Still, we’re turning to our community to help bridge the gap: every gift, big or small, truly makes a difference.

We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to Chimney Savers, the company completing the repairs. They have been wonderful to work with and generously provided us with a discount to help make this project more affordable. We’re so thankful for community partners who support our mission.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Kerry! 🎂🎈

Today we’re celebrating our incredible Board President, Kerry Laufer! Kerry has been part of our board since August 2021 and has served as Board President since October 2022, bringing dedication, thoughtfulness, and steady leadership every step of the way.

With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, and currently serving as Acting Executive Director of the Dartmouth-American University of Kuwait program at Dartmouth College, Kerry brings invaluable insight, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to our mission. Most importantly, she shows up with heart, generosity, and genuine care for our organization and community.

Lizzy brings a big heart and steady dedication to everything she does. She’s passionate about helping others, loves baking, and spends as much time outdoors as she can. One of her greatest joys is exploring and learning alongside her children—creating meaningful experiences and inspiring a love of discovery in their everyday life.
