Maynard House

A guesthouse for hospital patients and their families since 1978.

Maynard House is a home away from home with eight bedrooms, shared bathrooms, full kitchen, living room, and dining area. We are a low cost option for people traveling a distance to medical treatment or to stay close to a hospitalized loved one. Patients of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital and the VA Medical Center in WRJ, VT are eligible to stay.

We are incredibly grateful to the Agnes M. Lindsay Trust for their generous grant, which allowed us to purchase brand-new washers and dryers for Maynard House. These upgraded appliances make a real difference for the guests who rely on our home as a place of comfort and support during challenging times.

A special thank you as well to Manny’s Appliances for the smooth delivery and installation of the new units. Your partnership helps us continue providing a clean, welcoming, and dignified environment for every family who walks through our doors.

As our Assistant Operations Manager, Lizzy is at the heart of our daily operations. She works closely with the Executive Director while managing guest reservations, coordinating our amazing volunteers, and keeping our social media presence active and welcoming.

Lizzy brings a big heart and steady dedication to everything she does. She’s passionate about helping others, loves baking, and spends as much time outdoors as she can. One of her greatest joys is exploring and learning alongside her children—creating meaningful experiences and inspiring a love of discovery in their everyday life.

We’re grateful for the warmth, creativity, and organization Lizzy brings to our team each day. Thank you, Lizzy, for all you do! 💙

🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Andrew Grimson 🌟

We’re shining the spotlight on Andrew Grimson, a valued member of the Maynard House Board who recently lent his energy and expertise to our Breakfast with Michael event. Andrew brings a wealth of experience and a deep sense of community to everything he does.

A retired engineer and executive living in Hanover, Andrew spent 25 years in engineering and leadership roles at GE, Magna International, and Graham Packaging, followed by a decade in academic and leadership positions at Dartmouth and Harvard Business School.

A dedicated community volunteer, he has also served as Executive Director and board member for Habitat for Humanity. Andrew holds a BASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from Tuck.

When he’s not helping strengthen our mission at Maynard House, Andrew enjoys woodworking, traveling, and hiking with his wife.
