Doug Wortham began working in the funeral business in 1989 at the Heath Funeral Home in Paragould, Arkansas. Doug was mentored by Verlyn “Butch” Heath of Heath Funeral Home Inc., a family owned business since 1945. After making the decision to retire, the Heath's sold the Hardy Funeral Home to long-time manager Doug Wortham.
Butch and Jan Heath were told were told by friends that the Hardy area would benefit from a funeral home founded on the ideals and beliefs of his father Verlyn L. Heath, that providing families with the highest quality of service while maintaining the honesty, integrity, and professionalism expected from those serving in this industry. At that time Peace Lutheran Church was looking to sell their building and build a new facility. This proved to be a wonderful location with many great possibilities for a funeral home.
The Peace Lutheran building was renovated to suit the needs for a funeral home while only making the absolute necessary changes to the existing chapel. Heath Funeral Home, Oak Hill Chapel opened in August of 1993, and began serving the needs of the area. Heath Oak Hill Chapel has grown over the years and we now serve many families in Sharp County as well as western Lawrence and Randolph counties and eastern Fulton and Izard Counties.
Doug & Tammy Wortham moved to Cherokee Village in January 1998 along with their children Danielle and Seth. In January 1998 Doug became manager of Heath Oak Hill Chapel for 15 years. After making the decision to retire, the Heath's sold the funeral home to long-time manager Doug Wortham and wife Tammy. In December of 2013 Heath Oak Hill Chapel became Wortham Funeral Home, Oak Hill Chapel and Cremation.
Wortham Funeral Home is still founded on the ideals and beliefs “That providing our families with the highest quality of service while maintaining the honesty, integrity and professionalism expected from those serving in the funeral industry.”
We want you to know how blessed we feel to serve this community. As we serve the families of Sharp County and surrounding counties with the utmost respect and professionalism while always providing "A Sincere Personal Service".
