Babies...capable of manipulation?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don’t think so.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And a society that perpetuates a belief system like that needs a serious reality check.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why have babies if not to dote on them?

Why have babies if not to hug them and hold them and make them believe without a shadow of a doubt that they are truly loved, unconditionally, day and night, whether they’re chill or high needs?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The way you respond to your baby literally wires her brain. It sets the stage for the love she believes she deserves for the rest of her life. It builds neural connections that determine how she will experience the world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Taking care of a baby’s physical and emotional needs allows her to focus on learning and growing and experiencing life from a place of calm and presence.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hold those babies mama. Pick them up. Carry them. Dote on them. Delight in them. Light up when you see them. Love them. Show them the joy their presence bring you. You simply cannot spoil a baby with love.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Avoid any and all "sleep trainers." Look for professionals that teach natural sleep techniques, including understanding newborn behaviors and the importance of night waking for feeding. Let them be little. Sleep progresses naturally. You can have routines that support sleep, but never ignore your newborn or abandon him when he needs you. Protect the relationship ❤️

If your toddler (over one year) nurses at night and you are OK with this, go with the adage, ‘if it’s not a problem for us, it’s not a problem’. However, if you are feeling that you would like to stop night feeds or if your toddler is nursing what seems like ‘non-stop’ all night, there a...

❤️ SIDS Awareness Month 💙

Did you know...
Breastfeeding reduces a baby’s risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) by up to 73% when you exclusively breastfeed.

Babies who are breastfed or are bottle fed pumped breastmilk are at lower risk for SIDS compared with babies who were never fed breastmilk 🤱

Research has shown, the longer you exclusively breastfeed your baby (meaning not supplementing with formula or solid food), the lower his or her risk of SIDS.

Remember, if you bring baby into your bed for feeding, put him or her back in a separate sleep area when finished💗

BREASTFEEDING FACT 🌮🍤🥘
Human breast milk contains the smells and flavors of what you eat.

The baby tasted these same flavors in utero (through the amniotic fluid) and breastfeeding continues to help the baby become used to the cultural food preferences and flavors of their family.

It is not true that flavorful or spicy foods are not okay to eat while breastfeeding, as well as all vegetables.

It is important to continue to eat a wide variety of foods as this is a critical time in your baby’s taste bud development.

September is NICU Awareness Month ❤❤❤

"The first latch with baby number five.

I was back in the place I had been 4 times before unfortunately this time things were completely different.

Following this picture we began our journey into the NICU and were released with an NG feeding tube.

I began my journey of exclusively pumping. We tried every trick I had in my book from nursing out 4 previous children, two of which I did through feeding difficulties as well but it just didn’t work out. I have successfully been pumping for 6 months."

👶 BABY FACT 👶

When your baby was born, did you notice any flat blue, gray-blue, bluish-green, or grayish to black discolorations? 🤔

These are PERFECTLY normal and can be seen starting at birth or within the first weeks!

These marks may look like bruises, but they're not- they are a type of pigmented birthmark called Congenital Dermal Melanocytosis or “Mongolian Spots”/”Blue Butt”. 🥰

They are commonly found on the back, butt, base of the spine, or shoulders, the reason being a newborn’s skin collects more melanin (pigmentation) in these locations.

They usually go away by 1-2 years of life, but sometimes into school age or adulthood, and are most commonly seen in Asian, Native American, or African American babies.

The reason the spots are blue is because of something called the “Tyndall effect”. The pigments on the surface of the skin appear in different combinations of blue, gray, and black because they have a shorter wavelength.

Just make sure the nurses and paediatrician note them in their newborn assessment, so no one confuses them as bruises at any point- no need to stress Mamas! 😘
