Social Growth and Community Connections Meet up group for people with disabilities (over 18) looking for social connections and independence

Social Growth and Community Connections is a meetup group for young adults with disabilities (18 years of age or older) seeking independence in the community. Participants receive instruction and support in natural surroundings, provided by licensed educators seeking to improve executive functioning and social skills. Self awareness, communication, self advocacy, problem solving, and goal setting

are just some of the skills focused on during each group activity while having fun. SGCC will host at least one social event in the community a month in the Montgomery County area/Philadelphia Suburbs, lasting approximately 2 hours long. Examples of such meetups are: bowling, miniature golf, dining out, holiday shopping, Escape Room, make and take event, amusement park, etc. Any costs incurred are the responsibility of the participant. A $55 per event participation fee includes small group instruction during the length of the event, as well as a 15 minute 1:1 consultation to review the event and set social/independence goals with one of the instructors.

The cold and snow haven’t stopped us from having fun this January! We loved our Top Golf Night and Bowling at Earl Bowl. Looking forward to our Wellness Night tomorrow night with our special guest yoga instructor, Ms. Maria Pfeiffer, as she helps us stretch, practice coping skills, set goals for 2026 and prepare healthy snacks!

Last week, we worked on our outdoor bocce skills and enjoyed a beautiful fall night at the Montgomery Township Recreation and Community Center.
