Dr. Flores spent time this afternoon with Harlingen’s STEC Emergency Responders discussing cardiology for paramedics and the importance of early identification of acute MI.

Time = Muscle
An acute MI occurs when blood flow to part of the heart is blocked. The longer the delay in recognition and treatment, the more permanent damage occurs to the heart muscle, which is why early identification is crucial.🫀

South Heart Clinic has a seasonal heart-health checklist for you!
The holidays can be the busiest time of the year, so here's just a few ways to prioritize your health this season.

1) Modify holiday meals: choose lean proteins, increase vegetables, and limit sodium and portions.
2) Medication adherence: refill early before holiday hours and set reminders.
3) Schedule screenings: routine lipid panels and blood pressure checks every 3–6 months or as directed.
4) Monitor chronic conditions: check blood pressure and glucose at home weekly and log readings.
5) Support your heart with daily activity: aim for 20–30 minutes of light to moderate exercise.
