π A Message from The Spear Home π
After more than 60 years of love, laughter, and a whole lot of living, it is with full hearts that we announce the closing of The Spear Home.
In 1964, Ethel Spear opened these doors with a simple but powerful vision β to provide elderly women with a safe, dignified, and loving place to call home. That vision took root and grew into something truly special.
Twenty-five years ago, my wife Lisa (Spear) Salazar and I, Kenny Salazar, were blessed with the opportunity to carry on Ethel's legacy. We had no idea then just how much this home β and every woman who walked through its doors β would shape our lives. Each resident brought her own story, her own wisdom, and her own spirit into these walls. It has been one of the greatest honors of our lives to serve them, and we hold each and every one of them dear in our hearts.
To the dedicated staff members and healthcare providers over the years who showed up with compassion and care day after day β you are the heartbeat of everything we built here. We could not have done this without you.
And to the families who placed their trust in us to care for their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and beloved matriarchs β we do not take that trust lightly, not for a single day. Knowing that you felt peace of mind leaving your loved one in our care is something we will carry with us always. Thank you for letting us be a part of your family's story.
We also want to recognize our own children, who grew up within these walls and so graciously shared their home and their hearts with our residents. They never knew a life without this place, and that shaped them into the compassionate people they are today. We are so proud of them.
And to our extended family β there are no words big enough. You stepped in without hesitation, caring for our residents when we couldn't be there, lending your time, your energy, and your love to keep this home running. This was never just our journey β it was yours too, and we are forever grateful.
After more than six decades of service, it is time for us to rest, reflect, and cherish this chapter we've been so lucky to live. The Spear Home may be closing, but the love within these walls will never fade.
With so much gratitude,
Kenny & Lisa Salazar
