The summit brought together rural health leaders from across the country to explore strategies for long-term sustainability and innovation.

Sessions focused on strengthening hospital infrastructure, expanding access through telehealth, and aligning services with community needs. We’re proud to support this important work and the momentum it’s building for rural health care.

RHRC was honored to join the NASHP Conference in San Diego last month, where state health policy leaders, advocates, and innovators came together to share solutions, strengthen networks, and shape the future of health care.

Our CEO, Janice Walters, spoke on the panel “Implications of Health Care Changes on Coverage, Affordability, and Access: Connecting the Dots,” where she highlighted the unique challenges rural communities face. She also facilitated a roundtable on “The Next Generation Approach for Rural Health,” leading an interactive discussion on strategies to strengthen care for the future.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and contribute to conversations shaping health policy nationwide.

On October 16, RHRC’s Amy Kaltenbach and Diana Carpenter led an Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training in Crawford County, hosted by our SCA partner CCDAEC. This marks the first time RHRC staff will be teaching the MHFA course, an important milestone in our commitment to supporting mental wellbeing across rural communities.

Mental Health First Aid teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. This training equips individuals with the tools to listen nonjudgmentally, offer reassurance, and connect those in crisis with appropriate support.

We’re proud of Amy and Diana for stepping into this important role and expanding RHRC’s impact in the rural communities!
