Hello from Harrisburg! Happy New Year, and best wishes for a successful and fulfilling 2026. Our teams at PNA, the PNA Foundation and MANSI Media are excited about all we will accomplish in the year ahead on behalf of our members and industry partners.
The more than 200 members of reflect strength, resilience and unity of Pennsylvania’s news media community. Together, you share a commitment to the belief that informed citizens are the foundation of a healthy democracy and economy.
Our mission at PNA remains constant: to advance the business interests of Pennsylvania news media companies and to promote a free and independent press.
In 2026, PNA will continue to expand our advocacy efforts in support of House Bill 1291 to modernize public notices. We will work closely with Representative Freeman to guide this legislation through the process and toward a successful conclusion by year’s end. We will also develop a targeted fundraising plan to support legal advocacy work, strengthen legal services for our members, and broaden training opportunities to help newsrooms adapt, innovate and thrive.
Last year, the PNA Foundation launched a summer internship program supported by multiple funders, offered its inaugural Journalism Training Certification Program, and hosted two incredible Keystone Media Award events. The Foundation’s mission - to support the sustainability of local news through philanthropy and fundraising, training and recognition of professionals and student journalists – will guide us in 2026 as we pursue a bold, new initiative: the creation of the Center for Journalism Excellence.
At MANSI Media, the team successfully stabilized profits in 2025 and has developed a sound strategic plan for 2026 focused on identifying new revenue and continuing to adapt and lead with innovative digital products.
We know the challenges facing our industry are real. Revenue pressures, misinformation and shifting audience expectations test us daily. Yet the future is also filled with opportunity. Across , we see newsrooms experimenting boldly, collaborating creatively, and redefining local in the communities you serve.
I encourage you to lean on the strength of our community. Share ideas. Ask questions. Celebrate wins. Support one another. Know that PNA stands at the center of the connectivity for Pennsylvania’s industry.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to journalism and to the people of Pennsylvania. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you, and we look forward to the progress we will make together in 2026.
With Appreciation,
Bill Cotter
PNA President and CEO
