Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to continue publishing after sale to nonprofit media group Venetoulis Institute for Local Journalism. PNA President William Cotter said, “The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association welcomes the news of the sale of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and is encouraged by the prospect of preserving newsroom jobs and sustaining an essential source of local journalism.”

“The Center for Journalism Excellence represents a bold and collaborative investment in the future of local news."

The PNA Foundation recently launched the Center for Journalism Excellence, a new initiative dedicated to strengthening local journalism and supporting the journalists who serve communities across the commonwealth.

PNA members, are you looking for extra help during the NFL Draft? Point Park students are ready to assist.

With the NFL Draft coming to Pittsburgh April 23-25, the School of Communication at Point Park University invites PNA members to collaborate on coverage of the event. Point Park students studying broadcasting, digital journalism, multimedia, public relations, advertising, social media and sports communication are available to assist with reporting and content creation.

Students can write stories, produce audio and video, capture photos and develop social media content. News organizations may also have access to short-term workspace at Point Park during the draft.

PNA President and CEO Bill Cotter recently visited two PNA members in Pittsburgh. He met with Stan Wischnowski, executive editor and vice president of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Anne Belser, publisher of the monthly publication Print.

The PRINT team covers East End neighborhoods including Shadyside, Wilkinsburg, Homewood and Squirrel Hill. The publication is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month.

At the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the discussion focused on plans for the PNA Foundation’s Center for Journalism Excellence.
