Did you know you can't be stressed and in a state of gratitude at the same time? Those emotions activate different pathways in the brain. They can't happen at the same time.
Stress anxiety worry all activitate our stress response. Some people know that as "flight or fight" or a sympathetic response. Stress keeps us in survival mode.
Gratitude activates our rest state or parasympathetic system. This is where healing happens. It is also where we can think clearly and use more logic and reasoning versus responding emotionally.
This week we're handing out gratitude stones for our patients to remind them about always staying grateful.
