June and July are often designated as Fireworks Safety Month to raise awareness about the dangers of fireworks, particularly to the eyes.
Here are some tips for staying safe during fireworks displays:
Attend Professional Displays
Keep a Safe Distance
Wear Safety Glasses
Never allow children to handle fireworks
Be Aware of Sparklers: Sparklers can burn very hot and should be handled with caution.
If you are injured, seek immediate medical attention.

February is: Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Low Vision Awareness Month. The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and Prevent Blindness have designated this month to raise awareness of these eye conditions.
What is AMD?
AMD is a leading cause of vision loss in people over 50.
It affects the macula, the part of the retina that allows you to see fine details.
There are two main types of AMD: dry and wet. Dry AMD is more common and usually progresses slowly, while wet AMD can cause more rapid vision loss.
Early detection of AMD can help prevent significant vision loss.
