Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas AAANWA is a non-profit agency dedicated to improving the lifestyle of people 60 years of age and older in Northwest Arkansas.

The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas covers nine counties: Benton, Washington, Madison, Carroll, Boone, Newton, Searcy Marion, and Baxter. AAANWA helps seniors and disabled to remain independent and in their own homes as long as possible, and advocates for the individual rights of those in long-term care facilities. The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas (Agency) complies with all civil rights provisions of federal statutes and related authorities that prohibit discrimination in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Public notice is hereby given this 28th day of March, 2026 that
The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas of PO Box 1795, Harrison, AR 72602 has made application for funds
through Section 49 U.S.C. Section 5310 for the purchase of the following type of passenger transportation vehicle:

20’ Transit Conversion Mid-Roof Long Van w/o Rear Lift (12 Passenger)

This vehicle will be used primarily for the following purposes:
For the Prairie Grove Senior Activity and Wellness Center in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, to transport elderly citizens to and from the center to access meal service and socialization activities, grocery shopping, medical appointments, personal appointments and to conduct personal business, etc.

Purchase of the above vehicle is considered essential to the efficient operation of this organization in provision of public transportation services to seniors and individuals with disabilities. There is no intent to infringe upon, or compete with, existing public or private transit operators, including Section 5307, urban public transit operators and Section 5311, rural public transit operators.
Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas is requesting a vehicle that is not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. However, Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas does meet the “equivalency of service” requirements to individuals with disabilities in the community.
Any objection should be submitted in writing only to persons listed below. All comments will become a part of this organization’s application and will be a matter of public record. All written comments must be submitted within 30 days of the date of this notice. Any person wishing to request a public hearing on the proposed project must submit a request in writing within 10 days of the date of this notice to the persons listed below:

Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas announces the retirement of Patti Chisum, PERS (Personal Emergency Response System) Coordinator.

After 12+ years of service with the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas, Patti will retire on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Patti began her career with the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas in 2013 as a Financial Clerical Assistant also handling Durable Medical Equipment and Personal Emergency Response System responsibilities. She later transitioned into the role of PERS Coordinator in 2019, where she has continued to make an incredible impact helping our clients.

Throughout her years of dedicated service, she has consistently demonstrated exceptional hospitality, unwavering kindness, and a genuine willingness to support everyone around her. She provides help without hesitation and without expectation. Her commitment to the Agency, clients and to the people she has worked alongside has left a meaningful and lasting impact that will continue to be felt for years to come.

Patti and her husband, Jack, reside in Harrison. She loves spending time with her family, which includes three children, their spouses, and six grandchildren. She enjoys attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on in all they do, camping, has a passion for gardening, especially plants and flowers and spending time with friends.

The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas extends congratulations and best wishes to Patti as she begins this new chapter. Thank you, Patti.
