When I got into sixth grade I noticed I didn't fit in desks as easy as I used to and my clothes where a lot tighter. I was a dumb kid and my parents had just split up so I didn't have a whole lot of guidance. I ate microwave meals and drank soda like it was going out of style. A little while later my parents noticed my weight gain. I went to doctors and did tests after that and it just came down t
o I just ate way too much. During high school I gained until my junior year. I started going to the gym and eating better, but still I was around 400 pounds. We decided to see about getting a gastric bypass my senior year. The only thing was I had to get below 400 pounds. Those 40 pounds just wouldn't go(who would've thought that if I would have done what the doctor said I would've lost it). About 4 months before I turned 18 and my insurance expired I got serious again. I got all the way down to 380. I went to the doctor and they wouldn't do it because I would lose insurance before all my post-op stuff was done even after we offered to pay upfront. Well this was heartbreaking to me. After that I just gave up almost completely. I would diet and exercise in sperts and never stick with it. By doing that I didn't really ever gain much weight I stayed right around 400. Well 2013 wasn't easy for me. My family was spitting again, I had to quit college, etc. I lost control and put on 100+ pounds!!! Last fall my buddy left for MCRD San Diego. He went off to marine boot camp. Joining the Military has always interested me, but with my weight I knew I never could. Last month I found out my other close friend is leaving for the same place at the end of this year. I told myself that I have to change my lifestyle and why not change it and have an amazing goal to work towards. My goal is that by next year to be down from 500 pounds to around 240 so I too can join my friends in the Marine Corps. Its going to be a journey, but I can do it. I hope this page can help people who are struggling like me to control their life. I hope they can come here and find support and motivation that they need to better themselves. Message me anytime
