Ascent Therapy Harrison has been proudly serving clients, families, and our community for one year this December. To celebrate and give back, our Ascent Therapy Harrison Community Outreach Program will be hosting a Winter Coat Drive from January 1–31st ❄️

Our goal is to collect coats, hats, gloves, and blankets for children and adults in need during the winter season.

🎄 Ascent Therapy Harrison had a blast at the Explore Harrison Christmas Parade! 🎄

A HUGE shoutout to our amazing mental health therapy provider— Shelbi Cain for using her creativity and talent to design and build our parade float this year! The theme was The Grinch, and since so many of our providers work with students across surrounding school districts, Shelbi created an adorable Grinch Classroom—and it turned out absolutely perfect. 💚📚✨

Some of our providers and their families joined us for the fun, passing out our positive-affirmation candy canes to the community. We’re so grateful for the support and love Harrison always shows us. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night so special! ❤️💚

We’re so grateful for everyone who has helped so far! 💚 Together, we’ve already given out 12 food boxes, plus 3 directly to our client families — and we now have over 35 more families signed up who are in desperate need of help.

Many families are reaching out for immediate needs like meat, milk, eggs, pasta, and other non-perishable items. 🥫 Every donation truly makes a difference for those who are struggling right now.

We are beyond grateful. 💛

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’ve already been able to shop for food to support the families who need us most. So far, 26 families have signed up requesting assistance — and we are committed to providing what we can to each of them, as well as to our clients and their families whenever help is needed!

At Ascent Therapy Harrison, we believe no child should ever go hungry. 🫶

Important Update from Ascent Therapy Harrison!!!!!

Due to unforeseen circumstances and limited staffing available, our Ascent Therapy’s Mindful Monster Mash 👻🎃event will be canceled. In its place, the Harrison Ascent Therapy Community Outreach Program is shifting focus to support our community during the SNAP program shutdown that is an upcoming possibility if the government shutdown continues.

We understand this change may cause disappointment, but our priority is to stand beside our clients, families, and neighbors during this time of need.

We will be organizing food baskets and providing assistance to help families navigate available resources. If you would like to donate nonperishable food items or other essentials for our pantry, your generosity will make a meaningful difference.

September is Su***de Prevention Month 💜🩵💜🩵

At Ascent Therapy Harrison, we believe every kid and teen deserves support, understanding, and hope. 🩵

📊 What the latest data shows ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
• Su***de is the second leading cause of death among people ages 10‑24 in the U.S.

According to the 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey:

• About 39.7% of high school students report persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness. 

• 20.4% seriously considered attempting su***de in the past year. 

• 9.5% actually attempted su***de. 

• Among teens ages 12‑17, serious suicidal thoughts dropped from nearly 13% in 2021 to 10% in 2024. Su***de attempts dropped from 3.6% to 2.7%.

• For children ages 8‑12, su***de and self‑harm are rising. Between 2016 and 2022, emergency visits for su***de attempts and self‑injury in kids ages 5‑18 rose by 166%. 

💬 What this means & what we can do

These numbers are painful—but they also remind us of what matters: early support, open conversation, and removing stigma. No kid should feel alone, and no parent should feel without resources.
