We will be participating in the Harrisonburg Rockingham Page Reentry Council (HRRPRC) Resource Fair this THURSDAY, June 26th from 11 am - 2 pm at the Navigation Center in Harrisonburg! Join us to learn more about our area's reentry services and Strength In Peers programs that support individuals with substance use and mental health challenges.

RFS is hosting a summer parent education group! Our 10-week PE group explores multiple topics to help parents feel confident in their parenting skills!

You can expect to learn about child development, parent-child attachment, breaking cycles, age-appropriate positive discipline skills, safe sleep practices, and promoting positive play & interaction between parents and children within a supportive group dynamic. We are proud to share that Carrie Landis, Executive Director of Riverside Family Support, will be presenting at the 2025 Supervised Visitation Network Annual Conference.

"Fostering Secure Connections: Understanding Trauma's Impact on Attachment in Child Welfare" - The workshop will explore the impact of generational trauma and repeated child welfare involvement on attachment and behavior. Through a trauma-informed lens, this session offers insight into emotional responses during visitations and equips professionals with practical strategies to support healing and break cycles of generational trauma.

Riverside Family Support has visit rooms in Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Shenandoah, Virginia. All of our visit spaces are intentionally designed to make visiting parties feel comfortable and cozy.

Is supervised visitation only something ordered in court? 🧡 Supervised visitation can be for any family in need of extra support to maintain safe, appropriate, and positive contact for parents and children. RFS strives to provide families with positive and appropriate opportunities to maintain parent and child contact.

What are SUN BUCKS? Sun Bucks is Virginia's Summer EBT program, offering $120 per eligible child to help cover summer grocery costs. Families currently receiving state nutrition benefits are already enrolled in the program. If your family is not receiving benefits, and would like to apply, go to virginiasunbucks.com for a mail-in application. Phone applications will be taken July 1- August 30, 2025.
