Communication is imperative in all aspects of our lives from work to relationships to parenting to friendships, etc, but it is SO SO important within a healthcare practice.
Weekly meetings should be the gold standard for any multi-member practice-even if it is just a 30 minute check-in. Things can run smoothly until all of a sudden they don't and then the owner is left to scramble.
These incidents can include:
-Loss of a patient/client (because staff didn't communicate about a preventable incident)
-Loss of a staff member because they no longer felt motivated or closely connected to the overall goal/mission of the practice
-Loss of staff member because they wanted a raise but didn't know how to ask for it and it was never offered to them
Staff meetings are not solely for the purpose of getting stuff done. They are a space where members of the practice come together to share where they are at, what they need and what more they can offer. Without a container for this to take place, complacency builds, things fall through the cracks and the practice struggles to reach its true potential.
Communication and staff meetings show that you CARE about the direction and success of your practice.
If you have big goals, take yourself and your practice seriously and go after them!!
