Congratulations to our 2025-2026 FIRST graduates 💜💛

We had so much fun facilitating FIRST this year and watching these babies’ language skills grow!

Thank you to all our clinicians, clinical educators, volunteers, and community for making this possible!

Looking to communicate with your baby to prepare them for a lifetime of success? 👶📚

The JMU FIRST program is ENROLLING NOW for new groups meeting Fridays from 9:30-11:30, February 20th - April 15th. We are looking for caregivers and babies in between the ages of 6-12 months. Diapers, books, and childcare will be provided.

Families join us for a series of visits that focus on discovering new ways to engage babies in communication. Families are empowered to use these strategies through large group interactive discussions, small groups with other parents and in individualized one-on-one sessions with graduate student coaches.

What do you get out of participating? Free developmental evaluations, education regarding best practices for interaction with babies, and a chance to practice these skills with graduate clinician coaches!

To enroll, scan the QR code or contact our team at (540) 255-0881 / harbicsc@jmu.edu.

Is your family receiving (or recently received) Early Intervention (EI) services in Virginia? 🚼 Are you an EI service provider?

The VCU Early Childhood team is working on a research study to gather more information on family and provider perspectives. By completing this survey, you are helping make EI more inclusive and effective for the next generation of families.
