This summer has been full of sunshine, sweet treats, and heartfelt connections across our Sunnyside Communities. This month’s Snapshots of Home captures the little moments that make life here so special, from ice cream socials to sunflower strolls and everything in between.
Residents kicked off July Fourth with a sweet celebration, enjoying a classic ice cream social filled with patriotic spirit. Soon after, a group ventured out to Sunny Slope Farm for Sunflower Sunday, wandering through golden fields and hand-picking bright bouquets to bring a little sunshine back home.
On campus, vendor fairs and community events brought smiles to faces of all ages. Staff and high school volunteers rolled up their sleeves for a car wash to support the annual dementia walk, while others served treats at the Christmas in July Vendor Sale. A special booth, hosted by a staff member’s daughter and her friends, showcased handmade goods to raise funds for their dance expenses and dementia care.
Indoors, Sunnyside’s woodworking group, The Termites, shared their craftsmanship with a live demo. Students and residents spent a colorful afternoon together, tie-dying, playing games, and swapping stories. Joy filled every corner, from dance floors to game tables.
And sometimes, the simple moments shine the brightest. A quick trip to Buc-ee’s, an impromptu dance in the hallway, or a friendly conversation over coffee. These are the threads that weave together the fabric of life at Sunnyside, small and meaningful interactions that feel like home.
We are grateful to share these snapshots with you each month, celebrating the everyday joy of living in community.
