Jer and I took a late afternoon drive to Lost River, we enjoyed the woods and the quiet, left once it was starting to get dark out but got back before the rain, and of course—we stopped for pizza at Lost River Pizza + Provisions!

We dropped off some new goodies (like this crocheted market bag) and spruced up booth #24 at J & B’s Country Store in Broadway. I’m hoping to do a little painting this week and finish up some more crochet projects as well as adding some more of the girls closet clean out items. It’s too hot to be outside—finding a little thrift shop or antique mall near you is a great way to stay cool, hunt for treasurers, and shop small! Happy July!

It’s a Pillow Wordle! His name is Chuck—and he can be found in my somewhat restocked booth at J&B’s Country Store in Broadway. Chuck is also available for order! He is approximately 7” x 9”, he’s perfectly stuffed, and he is $25. All sales from Chuck (and everything else from my booth) will be going to GlobalGiving Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund. If you would like to order your very own Chuck…let me know!

There’s a tiny Valentine’s themed restock coming to tomorrow. It will include this 4x4 architectural salvage rosette wreath…and it feels good to pick the paint brush back up for something other than walls! ❤️

I wanted to let you all know that—I’m still here!
I’ve had an awesome time “off” from painting while the kids have been home since March. I’ve been staying busy working on my house and yard, going on adventures with the girls, helping with school, and crocheting! (These are my favorite projects that I’ve completed since “quarantine and social distancing” started). It’s been so fun to challenge myself in another craft while taking a break from the paintbrush!
*I do still have both of my booths (booth #24 at J & B’s Country Store in Broadway and Booth #35 at the Shenandoah Valley Flea Market in New Market) and I do keep them both restocked about twice a month.
*I have taken this year off from vending and that will continue until the Spring of 2021.
*Also thank you amazing customers for the custom orders I’ve received this year! (Even in a time out it’s been great to wander down to my workbench and poke around creating special unique presents for you guys to gift!) I have always said—and it’s so true—I have the BEST customers! I do have 2 outstanding orders right now-and I will be sadly unable to accept anymore until after Christmas!
*Thank you for your continued support of Cedar Heart Salvage Art! Have an amazing holiday season and here’s hoping that 2021 will be a little kinder to us all!

I appreciate your continued support for Cedar Heart Art! I know I have been very absent during the past few months...not only from teaching and popping in constantly at the wonderful VAC (which is very sadly closed now) and setting up at the Broadway Farmers Market, but also online as well as in the shops. I have not been painting (outside a few special orders that needed to be completed). I realize a pandemic/lockdown/quarantine seem like the perfect time to really get down to it and create some amazing art...but I’ve been spending all my time with these little girls (who are and will always be my greatest works of art) and given the state of things that is just a lot more important. I think I was also a little bit creatively burnt out-I’ve been crocheting constantly and much of that work has been taken to the shops as well as some art supplies for sale, but I am starting to miss my paints and I have some time coming up with kids visiting family and I plan to get back to it. You all are the BEST customers! Thanks for continuing to support small businesses and local artists. If you’re looking for some amazing small businesses/local artists to check out please think about stopping in at: J&B’s Country Store, The Jon Henry General Store, The Shenandoah Valley Flea Market, Oasis Fine Art, ReImagined, The Broadway Farmers Market, and The Barn at Creekside Farm. (There are SO many more in our area-but these are a few of my favorite spots to shop at-and thank goodness we can do that again!)
Take care, hope to see you soon!

◾️I did a *tiny* restock to Booth #24 at J&B’s Country Store this morning! It’s slow going since I have (as most everyone does right now—absolutely NO time alone). And I saw this sign hanging right in the middle of my back wall-“Staying home is my FAVORITE!”...and even though I’m not totally sure I agree with this anymore, it made me giggle given our current situation!
▪️I want to thank everyone for shopping my Booth over the last few weeks! I was surprised given the craziness of the world right now how much has been purchased!
▪️Also thank you amazing & patient customers for the orders...they always seem to pour in when I’m right in the middle of a painting slump and they push me right back down to my workbench! You guys are the best!
▪️Please go visit the ladies at J&B’s-they are doing a great job keeping up with social distancing, Susan is still making great lunches for take-out, and it’s full of treasures and a great place to go if you need a be out for a few minutes in a safe non-crowded local space (sometimes you really do need a few mental health minutes alone!)

This is SO IMPORTANT! If you’re stuck home and you’re bored...shop Etsy or a local business’s website instead of heading straight for Amazon to grab what you’re looking for. I bought some amazing bar shampoo and bar dish soap from a local friend through Etsy this morning! Don’t stop eating from your favorite spots, drive thru or order to pick up (or if your healthy and your immune system can handle it-use your best judgement and just go eat)! I stopped in the other day at one of my favorite small stores and grabbed some puzzles for thank you presents and some for us to do too! Think about stopping in at a local small shop instead of Walmart (ick—how many people have been in there touching everything?), so wash your hands (again)...and go visit your local general store or your local coffee shop. If you run out of yarn (God forbid! Instead of a large craft chain-try someone local who spins and dyes their own fibers-you’ll be hooked on the quality!) Our local small business friends are counting on your help to keep their business running right now. (Trust me-I like amazon as much as anyone else-and prime delivery is the best...but please take a minute to consider what you could purchase local, right now especially) In case you need an idea...one of my very favorite shops is you can find anything in there, snacks, candles, puzzles, crazy socks, fresh veggies and fruits, flowers...it’s just the best!

I can finally share my “Love Birds” wreath that I made for a special wedding present (now that the wedding has happened—YAY)! The base is a 9 inch wooden embroidery hoop, the cotton puffs and pine cones are attached to a wrapped wire garland that I clipped and wound around the hoop to hold it together and give it more of a base for the crochet (Both the hoop and garland came from ). All the crocheted pieces were done in cotton. The birds, ivy leaves, mushrooms, orange slices, stars, and eucalyptus twigs are all from (or modified from) the amazing wreath designed by . I didn’t make the bird for my advent wreath (because it was simply packed already) but it was so cute and I knew I needed to make something special so it was the inspiration for the love birds! I have now decided that I MUST BUY HER BOOK of crocheted wreaths and garlands because I totally love making wreaths and her directions are absolutely perfect to understand! The amigurimi heart at the top is also not my design-it started as my practice heart for another project and found a home here instead, the gold and ivory daisies-are my design. I absolutely loved making this...I’m not really a blanket crocheter, I like smaller more intricate projects (probably due to my squirrel sized attention span) but I really wanted to make something special that could be loved in a new home a be a reminder of a special day...I hope this fits that brief!
