We are excited to announce a new beginning for January 2025. In our efforts to provide expanded services that meet the various expressed needs of our communities, we are beginning a support group for Foster Parents and Guardians in the Cass County Area.

The parenting role taps into our greatest strengths and sometimes provokes insecurity about our greatest weaknesses - having a community to draw support from can be an essential resource for stepping into the arena and leaning into the challenges.

The intention of this group is to provide compassionate and empowering support as you navigate parenting across systems - both your own family system and the legal system, as well as system resources meant to help.

Call or Text us at 816-974-7378 for more information, and as always, come Be Well at The Well.

Letting go, whether of negative emotions, past experiences, or unrealistic expectations, can have countless & profound psychological benefits. Here are a few...

Reduced Stress & Anxiety
Holding on to past hurts or unresolved issues can create constant mental strain. Letting go allows the mind to relax, reducing stress and anxiety by freeing mental & emotional resources.

Reduced Symptoms of Depression
Letting go of negative self-talk, guilt, or unresolved grief can help alleviate symptoms of depression. By releasing burdens, individuals can make room for healing and emotional balance.

Increased Resilience
Letting go of perfectionism or control over outcomes helps individuals build resilience. It encourages adaptability and the acceptance of uncertainty, making it easier to cope with life's challenges.

Enhanced Relationships
Letting go of past conflicts or unrealistic expectations in relationships fosters forgiveness, compassion, and better communication. It allows for healthier connections and deeper emotional intimacy.

Greater Self-Awareness
The process of letting go often involves reflection and mindfulness, which can increase self-awareness. This allows individuals to identify harmful thought patterns & behaviors, leading to personal growth.

Increased Mental Clarity
By letting go of obsessive thoughts or overthinking, mental clutter is reduced. This leads to greater focus, concentration, & decision-making ability, as the mind is no longer preoccupied with unresolved issues.

Sense of Freedom and Empowerment
Letting go of things you cannot control empowers individuals by shifting focus from external circumstances to personal responses. This fosters a sense of autonomy & emotional freedom, promoting personal empowerment.

Increased Happiness and Fulfillment
Letting go of attachment to outcomes or the need for external validation often leads to a greater sense of inner peace and fulfillment. This allows individuals to live more fully in the present moment & experience increased happiness.

The long-term psychological rewards make the challenge of letting go worth it! Let the example of the Autumn season inspire you to let go of what no longer serves you so new growth can occur. 🍂🥰

Anxiety symptoms vary due to the complexity of humans. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) looks different from person to person; but even in the same person it is expressed differently from day to day and moment to moment. It’s like a quiet tension that builds if allowed, and when it gets too big it is expressed through our bodies, thoughts and feelings.

Be compassionate with yourself and with others, because you never truly know the weight someone’s carrying. We can start recognizing anxiety (in ourselves and others), normalize the conversation about it, and support each other towards wellbeing.

I made this chart to show how anxiety can manifest differently for different people. Here's what mine used to look like on an average day, although it fluctuates.
Just a reminder that anxiety looks different for everyone and all experiences are valid.

The Story:

I don’t know where to start except to say that at the beginning of this, I set out to do a good thing. Isn’t that what we all do? I think there is some kind of importance to helping humans persevere, strive for more, experience joy, to know who they are and to know the power of love in action. The Wellness Counseling Center, LLC, is the manifestation of all of my love for my village poured into action. It’s not perfect, as I am not perfect, and that’s kind of the point. It’s experiential. It’s a safe place to find out that “you can” do just what you need to do, be just who you need to be. To try on as many different parts of you until you find just the combination of what you need to be okay with who YOU are. It’s a holding space to reflect, explore, and find the strength and courage and hope that is ALREADY inside of you, that will help carry you through your challenges today, and hopefully make the challenges of tomorrow a little less scary. I look forward to journeying with you, even if just for a little while.
