Family Tree is an adult foster care home that focuses first on the safety and dignity of its residents.

Our goal is to be a premier home where nothing is institutional and everything is designed with the residents in mind. We serve residents home cooked meals with a focus on their dietary needs. We invite and look forward to family members being a part of our resident’s lives and enjoying their home with them.

It is with heartfelt sadness I am announcing the closure of Family Tree Adult Foster Care, effective September 30th, 2020.

The reasons for closure are many; large cost increases, staffing instability, and life changes for my husband and myself.

This decision was met after much soul searching as to what was best for all, but especially, my husband and I.

Please know we have treasured our community’s support. We have treasured our residents and shared their lives as family. The families we have served have left unimaginable impressions on our lives and we can’t thank them enough for including us in their life journey.

We love you all and we do not take this decision lightly. We are praying that we are able to leave this chapter of our lives knowing we touched the lives of those who needed us and the community that supported us.

We are looking for an employee to fill hours on both second and third shifts as part of the same position . This job will include weekends and holidays and be approximately 32-40 hours per week.

This position requires previous experience providing personal care with elders and the disabled.

The candidate for this position must be able to pass a Michigan Background Check and finger printing.

Arguing with Walmart about how important it is that we are able to shop online for our residents. We are meeting limits for items needed to feed our residents. Shopping in the store only increases exposure for those of us shopping and potentially bringing the virus home to our home.

I am only asking online limits be lifted for our account in order to feed a family of 12. So far no assistance. Just the repeated “limits on items at this time”.
Two loaves of bread or 2 gallons of milk will not feed this family.

In order to protect our residents from the Corona virus we have made the decision to suspend all outside visitors and non-medical entries into the home. Residents will remain in the house to protect them and others from contracting the virus. This level of protection is one that is being taken not only locally, but across the country, to protect our most vulnerable population.

We are happy to have family members call as often as you would like to connect with your loved one. A cell phone with Facetime will be made available upon an agreed upon time to have residents and families “visit”.

Please know our goal is to protect our residents to the best of our ability and keep them as healthy as we can.

Today we mourn the loss of a strong branch of our tree. Our grandma, our friend, a great and strong presence in our home.

She loved hard and completely . Her family was her world, and we were blessed to be brought into that fold.

The only thing Norma loved more than her children, was her Lord and Savior. She was ready after a long and lovely life to be home with her Creator.

We will miss her smile, her laugh, her strength,and the joy she and her family brought to our house.

I will always hold a special place in my heart for her watch over everyone in our home. Making sure her best friend was watched over and that we didn’t miss a thing. She cared for others until her last breath.

We love you Norma. We miss you. Our Tree will not be the same without this beautiful branch.

We are looking for an energetic, loving, compassionate, and experienced employee who will be committed to improving the lives of our residents. It is important that this team member be reliable for the continuity of care for our residents. Our philosophy is resident and team oriented.

We have a Full-Time Third Shift position open for a Direct Care Worker. This position includes weekends and holidays. Wage will be reviewed after a 3 month completion of employment.

The candidates who apply for this position will need CPR certification. You will be required to have a physical, TB test, and pass a State background check.

I cannot be more grateful to my staff and residents who gave me a perfect pre-birthday surprise!! My office was covered in balloons and I was made a beautiful birthday cake with gifts. I love you all and thank you for your love as well!!
