Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ali Prible, OD, FAAO on passing her oral exam this past week at the 2024 American Academy of Optometry meeting, and officially becoming a fellow.

The Academy’s membership is comprised of optometrists, vision scientists, and other qualified professionals who have committed themselves to the rigorous process required to achieve its prestigious designation, Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO).

We have ISO 12312-2 certified solar eclipse glasses for sale in our office for $2 + tax! Stop in and get yours to make sure you are ready for the April 8th, 2024 total solar eclipse.

Please remember that viewing a solar eclipse without ISO 12312-2 certified solar eclipse glasses can result in permanent retinal damage and vision loss.

‼️Recall Alert‼️

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued a recall on several popular brands of over-the-counter eye drops on October 27, 2023. The eye drops are being recalled because of the potential risk of eye infections resulting in partial vision loss or blindness.

If you use eye drops from the following brands, stop using them immediately:

CVS Health
Walmart Equate
Leader (Cardinal Health)
Rugby (Cardinal Health)
Rite Aid
Target Up&Up
Velocity Pharma

Other popular name brand drops (such as Systane, Refresh, GenTeal, TheraTears, etc.) are not included in the recall and are safe to continue using as directed by your eyecare provider.

Wishing the Eye Associates soccer team and coaches good luck on Saturday in the U12 League Championship Game! The team beat the number 2 and 3 teams in the league this week to make it to this game. Coach Jeff Whetzel, Dr. Laura's husband, and Greg Creech have done a wonderful job coaching this whole season!

One month from today, on October 14th, 2023 the United States will be in the path of an annular solar eclipse. Not to be confused with the total solar eclipse coming next April, an annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon covers the Sun's center, leaving the Sun's visible outer edges to form a "ring of fire."

Protecting your eyes from the extremely intense sunlight that occurs during an annular or total solar eclipse is very important. Dr. Ali has put together an infographic of tips to help you best avoid retinal damage from the upcoming annular eclipse.
