Charter Oak Health Center welcomed Governor Ned Lamont and a panel of state and federal lawmakers today for a press conference addressing the impact of the recently passed federal budget bill on Connecticut residents. The discussion focused on cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential social services.

The bill, passed last Friday by Congress, includes significant reductions in funding for programs that support low-income individuals and families. These cuts are expected to disproportionately affect communities across Connecticut.

Joining Governor Lamont were Commissioner Andrea Barton Reeves, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Congressmen John Larson and Joe Courtney, Comptroller Sean Scanlon, Senator Matt Lesser, and Representative Jillian Gilchrest.

Charter Oak Health Center, a vital provider of care to underserved populations in Hartford, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting patients affected by these changes and to advocating for equitable access to healthcare and support services.

This month, we’re proud to recognize Madelin Bergen for her exceptional dedication and leadership. When our team needed support with payroll, Madelin stepped up and managed every detail with care and accuracy. She even came in on a Saturday to ensure our employee health insurance payment was sent on time, giving us all peace of mind.

Madelin also modernized our operations by implementing ACH payments, streamlining vendor transactions, and improving efficiency across the board.
