I'm 58.;I live in CT and it's cold here. I have considered traveling but after working in critical care for over 17 years and other places in the hospital, I decided I didn't want to put myself through that stress. I really admire those who are doing it and feel if I was younger I would. The circumstances have to be right. I stay where I am because it's my community hospital. I love talking to people and it seems like I can always find a commonality, a connection. Bring a Catholic nurse means trying to put the Beatitudes to Life.

The love ,care and kindness we show to our patients and families exemplifies Jesus's Mercy, Jesus's Charity . Our life as a nurse is not easy. In a way it is sacrificial. When I used to work in the Emergency room years ago , as I drove into work the night shift I would say a simple prayer " Jesus,let me be patient with my patients" Seems silly but it helped me . As the demands grow it is easy to lose patience and not care . As nurses we want to give more time to our patients. Even a few minutes in the room can make a difference if you use the time to connect and care.
