Then, he relocated to the United States, where he served his general surgery residency at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s hospital (1979), followed by his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship performed at Yale-New Haven Hospital (1981). In addition, Dr. Hashim received board certification in cardiothoracic surgery from the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Medical Association, the Yale Surgical Society, the New Haven Medical Association, and the Connecticut Medical Association.
