Trinity Health Of New England is proud to announce Saint Francis Hospital and Saint Mary's Hospital have both received recertification as Trauma Centers by the American College of Surgeons. Saint Francis is verified as a Level I Trauma Center while Saint Mary’s is verified as a Level II Trauma Center. Standards for Trauma Center distinction denote the spectrum of care that must be available to the injured patient at the facility.

“Saint Francis and Saint Mary’s receiving trauma center recertification by the American College of Surgeons means Trinity Health Of New England has the capacity and capability to provide the most advanced life-saving measures available and underscores our commitment to the communities we serve in Hartford, Waterbury, and the surrounding areas,” said Montez Carter, PharmD, FACHE, President & CEO, Trinity Health Of New England.

We’re proud to share that Valerie Powell-Stafford, MHSA, FACHE, Hartford Market President for Trinity Health Of New England, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Connecticut Hospital Association.

Valerie leads Saint Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital with a deep commitment to advancing patient care and strengthening our community. Her appointment reflects her dedication to advocating for high-quality care across Connecticut and her leadership in expanding access to innovative treatments.

Valerie also serves on the Board of the MetroHartford Alliance and brings over 25 years of health care leadership experience, including early career roots right here in Connecticut. We’re honored to have her representing our hospitals and our mission at the state level.
