Celebrating connection for career-building in public health...

Since 2024, CPHA’s Mentor Committee has created space for professionals across the field to come together through Public Health Mixers. Free, family-friendly, and hosted in community settings, these events make networking approachable and inclusive.

Now in collaboration with CEHA, CT SOPHE, and CAPHN, we’re expanding opportunities to connect across the state. Stay tuned for what’s next.

A public health workforce win...

Preceptors are essential to building the future of public health - providing mentorship, guidance, and real-world learning experiences for students. This year’s preceptor award recipient, Joan Lane, has gone far beyond the traditional role of a preceptor, serving as a mentor, connector, and champion for students entering the field. Her commitment is to strengthening the next generation of public health leaders.

A great example of government partners working to support public health...

Through the Color It In Public Art Program, the City of Bridgeport’s Office of Planning and Economic Development (OPED) and the Downtown Service District (DSSD) are transforming vacant spaces into vibrant, creative hubs that reflect the community's stories, cultures, and passions.

This effort is more than beautification; it’s about placemaking, activating downtown, and creating spaces where people want to live, work, and connect. By inviting residents, artists, and businesses to contribute, this initiative is strengthening community identity, supporting local creativity, and reimagining what public space can be.
