We source our produce, dairy, eggs and more from farmers in Hartford, Middlesex, and Fairfield Counties.

Introducing the very first installment of our Quarterly Farm-to-Table Supper Club on January 23rd. This intimate, family-style dinner is a celebration of local farms, seasonal ingredients, and the power of coming together around the table. Proceeds support Mercado Popular’s mission to connect neighbors and uplift local farmers while increasing access to fresh food. The evening’s menu will be prepared by the incomparable Chef Francisco Ramirez. More info to come.

Winter might be freezing, but the fields don’t stop 😎

At Mercado, you’ll still find seasonal produce grown right here in CT even through the coldest months. Think hearty greens, roots, storage crops, and greenhouse-grown goodness—food that’s meant for this season.

Huge shout out to our farmers who keep showing up in the frost, snow, and short days to make sure fresh food is still reaching our shelves. Growing food in winter isn’t easy, and it takes real care, planning, and love for the land.

When you shop seasonal, you’re not just buying produce, you’re supporting the people who grow through it all🌾

Cold storage is infrastructure—and farmers deserve access to it!
Through funding from the CT Dept. of Agriculture, Farmer Fridge Program✨lives right inside the Mercado Popular space, offering farmers reliable cold storage between markets so less food goes to waste and more stays local.

Huge love to for stepping in to help move these big fridges + freezers, true community muscle. This is what shared resources and collaboration look like. 💪🏽🌻

If you’re a farmer in need of short-term cold storage, this space was built with you in mind.

New Vendor Partner 🗣️ We have proudly partnered with to supply our cheese selection here at Mercado! From Blackbird Cheese founder, Greg: Blackbird Cheesemongers started in 2025 guided by a few core principles: that fine cuisine should be available to everyone, intentionally made, and built on respect for the people involved in making it. Led by an ACS Certified Cheese Professional, our journey began as two cheesemongers in New York City in 2017 and grew into a shared vision to bring world-class artisan cheese to more tables here in our homestate of Connecticut. Cheese is a social food – intended to be enjoyed with others, to be matched with other foods thoughtfully, to be prepared with care, and never considered as an afterthought. Blackbird believes that carefully selecting ingredients will elevate even the simplest of dishes or a simple grazing board to something worth remembering. As such, partnering with Mercado Popular is a natural extension of our philosophies. Blackbird is honored to select cheeses that celebrate the people — farmers, cheesemakers, affineurs — and the mission to provide better access to good food. We look forward to expanding the selection of cheeses and accompaniments at Mercado Popular with the help of the community in the coming year.

Last year reminded us what’s possible when people show up for each other.
We delivered 275+ Harvest Shares to Hartford families and opened the doors to Mercado Popular something I honestly couldn’t believe for a long time, and could never have done alone.

The last few years asked for a lot. This work isn’t glamorous or easy, but it’s necessary. We all have a responsibility to one another and to the places we call home. Mercado Popular isn’t just a farm store — it’s a different way of sourcing food, one that strengthens our local ecosystem with the support of our neighbors.

We’re still new, still learning on how to best serve our neighbors and we hope you’ll continue to join us for the ride. Thank you to every person who believed, showed up, and made this possible 🌻
