🌟 LEO Clinic: Expanding Access to Life-Saving Naloxone Training in Spanish! 🌟

At LEO Clinic, we are committed to empowering communities by breaking down barriers to essential healthcare education. We’re excited to announce our interest in becoming certified naloxone trainers, offering this critical training in Spanish to better serve Spanish-speaking communities.

💡 Why This Matters:
Opioid overdoses continue to claim lives, and naloxone is a proven, life-saving intervention. However, language barriers often limit access to this vital resource. By providing naloxone training in Spanish, we aim to bridge this gap, ensuring equitable access to education and life-saving tools for all.

We’re thrilled to share that our very own COO recently spoke on a national platform, discussing the impactful work we’re doing at LEO Clinic. Our COO, Sergeant James Amaro is a U.S. Army veteran who served with distinction, including a deployment to Iraq from October 2007 to January 2009. During his service, he was recognized with the Army Commendation Medal and the Driver and Mechanic Badge for driving over 8,000 miles in Iraq accident-free.

After his military service, Sgt. Amaro has been active in veteran advocacy. He serves as the Chairman of the Veterans Advisory Committee in the Town of Manchester, Connecticut, where he has expressed support for legislation benefiting veterans.

In 2016, Sgt. Amaro received a donated privacy fence from the nonprofit organization Hope For The Warriors and South Windsor-based Fence One. This initiative aimed to provide a safe and private environment for his family and service dog, aiding his transition back to civilian life.

Sgt. Amaro’s dedication to his country and continued support for fellow veterans exemplify his commitment to service both in and out of uniform.

Our team is here to assist Connecticut residents with determining eligibility and navigating enrollment into essential health programs like Medicaid (HUSKY), the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Qualified Health Plans.

What This Means for Our Patients and Community:
• Accessible Help: Extended hours ensure we’re available when you need us.
• Comprehensive Support: Our CAC team can guide you through the enrollment process, making it easier to understand and access health coverage.

We are thrilled to share highlights from our amazing event at Parkville Market! Parkville Market hosted a fun-filled “Boo Bash,” where families and children enjoyed activities like pumpkin picking, trick-or-treating, and games. The community came together for a day of laughter and connection, with kids selecting their own pumpkins and participating in a candy corn guessing game.
