Even after working at a cancer center for 19 years, Yolanda was still hesitant to get a mammogram based on unpleasant memories of her own mother’s cancer journey. After she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she became close with her cousins Charlotte and Chartell, who were also diagnosed with breast cancer around the same time. Yolanda now advocates for people to get screened for cancer, stressing that a cancer diagnosis doesn’t mean it’s the end and that it’s worth it to be here for your loved ones and yourself.
