Share Love, Encourage Screenings!

Love doesn’t end on February 14th, and neither should the care we show ourselves and the people we cherish.

This month, remind someone you care about to schedule their cancer screenings, and make sure you’re up to date on yours, too!

OCH has seen incredible growth among our Pediatric Therapy patients, including one milestone that brought tears to all of us.

Our Pediatric Therapy team has been working with a young child with autism who is primarily nonverbal. From day one, his mother shared her biggest wish: to one day hear her child say “I love you.” He would make a heart shape with his hands, but the words had never come.

During a simple Easter egg matching game in therapy, he found an egg with a heart on it, and in that moment, something clicked. He looked up and, without prompting, said the words his mother had been waiting to hear: “I love you.”

Since that time, the patient has been able to tell his mother, “I love you,” independently.

It was an unforgettable moment that captured not only measurable progress in communication but also the deep emotional bonds that therapy helps make possible.

We appreciate the continued support and funding from the Kentucky Social Welfare Foundation.

Experiencing Joint Pain, but want an alternative to steroids or surgery?

OCH Orthopedics now offers Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, a natural approach to dealing with joint pain.

PRP uses a patient’s own blood to promote healing. A small blood sample is taken, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets, and then injected into the injured or painful area. Because PRP contains natural growth factors, it supports tissue repair rather than simply masking pain.

This treatment is offered at our Hartford and Owensboro orthopedic locations. Call today to schedule a consultation and see if PRP therapy is right for you!
