Community Emergency Response Team - CERT Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates people about disaster preparedness and hazards that may impact their area & train them in basic skills

The Hartford Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is part of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) since 1993 and Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS),
Citizens Corps Council, and the National Citizen Corps effort to incorporate and utilize volunteers in the community. The Citizen Corps is endorsed by the President of the United States and t

he Federal Department of Homeland Security. CERT members are trained in basic response techniques in order to assist local citizens and first responders in disaster or emergency situations.

Friday May 15, 2026, the Hartford CERT Team alongside 70+ volunteers supported the Urban Alliance Packing Party.

Volunteers were able to network, enjoyed snacks and drinks before the packing began, which included coupons for the Farmers Market, The Urban Alliance Resource Guide as well as information on wrap-around community services.
