Herbert David Smith, 57, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026 in his home with family. He was born in Holmes County, Florida.

He enjoyed playing horseshoe and spending time with family and friends. He also loved watching t.v. and had watched just about every show Netflix had to offer. He firmly believed that family was most important over anything else.

He worked as a roofer for most of his life and at the cotton mill when he was 15.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Ann Watford and Herbert Hoover Smith; wife, Vickie Lynn Smith; and mother of his children, Romona McAdams.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

He is survived by his sisters, Dana Taylor and Becky Ann Jones; brothers, James Smith and Anthony Taylor; children, April Danielle Leanne Smith and Herbert Joshua David Smith; stepchildren, Nick Bacon, Jeremy Bacon, and Michelle Sewell; grandchildren, Carlie Carroll, Callie Carroll, Caiden Carroll, Kyron Smith, Heather Smith, and Luke Smith; as well as several other step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

David (PawPaw) was known to be incredibly funny and always made you laugh even without meaning to. His family was most important to him and he loved to say, "blood is thinker than water." He will be missed by all who knew him.

Robert Michael Regan of Black, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at his residence. He was 65 years old. He was born on April 10, 1960, in Mobile, Alabama to the late Jesse Ray Regan and Marion Garrett Collier.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Stewart Regan.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will follow in Black Community Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Lett of Bottoms Garden Chapel. The family will begin receiving friends at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. until service time on Monday.

Mike Regan will be remembered as a man whose presence brought strength, humor, laughter, and comfort to those around him. Mike lived with a quiet resilience and a genuine kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was defined by his unmatched work ethic, taking immense pride in his craft and building a reputation as someone who could always be counted on—never missing a day of work and never cutting corners. His dedication, reliability, and commitment to doing things the right way earned him the respect of coworkers and customers alike. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and unwavering dependability that will not be forgotten. His memory will live on in the stories told, the lessons he left behind, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Samson, Al- Ms. Alice Faye Bennett, 86, passed away March 19, 2026, in her home with family. She was born in Livermore, Ky. She moved to Alabama in the late 60’s.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved playing bingo and took great pride in tending to her flower beds and houseplants. She was of the Baptist faith.

She worked as a parts manager at John Deere and Massey Ferguson. And at the Old Cotton Mill in Geneva. She had a passion for caring for the elderly as was evident in her many roles as caregiver, CNA and sitter for over 20 +years.

Ms. Bennett was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lois P. Bennett; brother, Gilbert Bennett; father of her children, James Vindle Drake; her children; Doris Sue Drake , Barbara Kay Drake , Diana Lynn Del Valle and Billy Gene Drake and a few of her grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Geneva with Bro. Olan Strickland officiating and under the direction of Shelby Lett of Bottoms Garden Chapel. The family will begin receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

She is survived by her brother, Harold Bennett (Linda) Ruskin, FL; sister, Linda Revlett, Bronson, FL; sons, James Dennis Drake (Penny), John Dewayne Drake, Danny Arnold Drake (Danielle) Geneva,Al; daughters, Brenda Faye Bass, Americus, Ga, Janet Lee Drake (Daniel) Samson, Al, sixteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Leon Duane Webster of Geneva, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. He was 70 years old.

Duane was born on September 30, 1955, to the late Thomas and Jerldeen Webster. He was a good father who, alongside Lynne, raised their children together. Duane shared a deep love with Lynne—wherever he was, she was often by his side, a testament to the joy they found in one another’s company. He especially adored his grandchildren.

In his younger years, Duane enjoyed playing softball and carried that same energy and passion into a lifelong love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. A gifted mechanic, Duane had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything, often lending a helping hand to neighbors and friends. He was especially known for repairing lawnmowers, rarely asking for much in return.

Duane was a kind and dependable man, a good neighbor, and a loyal friend. He also held a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Bojangles. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Dural Webster.

Alex Scott Moore of Bellwood, Alabama passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, in Eufaula, Alabama. He was 39 years old.

He was born on August 19, 1986, in Dothan, Alabama, to Travis and Phyllis Moore. Alex loved deeply and felt life intensely. Known around Bellwood as the “Bellwood MacGyver,” he could rig or repair just about anything with whatever was within reach. He had a big heart, a loyal spirit, and was recently working hard to rebuild his life and grow into the man he wanted to be. Though his journey included both joy and struggle, he never stopped trying, and he was deeply loved by his family.

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, fiancée, daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece, and friend, Veronica Antonia Garcia-Mata. She passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, after an automobile accident in Hartford, Alabama. She was 24 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford with Pastor Dixon Klinger officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Lett of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born on December 5, 2001 in Tampa, Florida to Jaime Mata- Garcia, Sr. and Amanda Thompson Mata. She was a proud graduate of Geneva County High School, Class of 2020, and went on to earn her Medical Assisting diploma from Fortis College in 2024. She was pursuing a career dedicated to serving others.

Veronica had a vibrant, talkative spirit that could brighten any room and a heart that overflowed with love. A true foodie, she enjoyed trying new restaurants, shopping for her favorite things, and making memories with those she cherished most. She had a special love for children and animals and treasured every moment spent with her friends and family.

She was joyfully anticipating the arrival of her precious baby and was deeply excited about embracing motherhood, a role she already carried with so much love in her heart.

Veronica was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roman Mata, Gary Hall; and great grandfather, Floyd Earl Thomas Sr.

Barbara was a faithful member of Hartford Methodist Church and a cherished member of The Red Hat Society. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her kind heart and caring spirit. She never hesitated to help—whether it meant giving someone a ride, gathering magazines for shut-ins, or lifting spirits with her bright personality and warm smile. It was once said that Barbara did what people are meant to do for others, but too often don’t, and that truth perfectly reflects who she was. Her family finds comfort and peace in knowing she has received her heavenly reward.

Pamela Easley Stewart, born on February 6, 1959, passed away peacefully at her home in Hartford, Alabama, on the evening of January 29, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her father,
Dewey P. Easley, and her mother, Billie Jo Ward.

Pamela was a proud mother to her children, Heather Lynn Stewart Powell and Heath Dale Easley. Her face lit up whenever she spoke of her beloved grandchildren: Taylor Powell, Austin (Chassity) Powell, Michaela (Craig) Myrick, Wyatt (Elizabeth) Easley, Morgun Easley, Lilly’Ann Easley, and Weston Easley, along with many treasured great-grandchildren.
