“My name is Kurt Michael Bordas, BSN, RN, and I am proud to be part of an amazing team of nurses, healthcare professionals and support staff at the Emergency Department for Hartford Hospital!” ♥️
Every step of Kurt Bordas’s story led him exactly where he needed to be.
It began with a young boy from Chile who grew up in a family full of love, compassion, and service. Both of his parents served in the U.S. Air Force — Carl Bordas, Major (Ret.), and Therese Bordas, Captain — and as nurses, they set an early example that would stay with him.
Growing up, Kurt was always someone who looked for ways to help. He volunteered at his local animal shelter, fostered kittens, and built a strong connection to caring for others.
After high school, he followed that instinct and joined the United States Air Force, continuing his family’s path of service. He served for eight years and is an OIF/OEF combat veteran — an experience that shaped his resilience and sense of purpose.
Kurt went on to work in law enforcement and security, continuing to protect and serve his community. Later, while raising a family, he took a different path as a casino table games dealer — meeting people from all walks of life, but still searching for something more meaningful.
With the support of his family, and through reflection and prayer, Kurt made the decision to pursue nursing through an accelerated program at Elms College in Chicopee, MA. That’s when everything fell into place.
Today, Kurt is part of the team at Hartford HealthCare’s Hartford Hospital Emergency Department — bringing together his experiences, his compassion, and his commitment to serving others.
