Today is National Injury Prevention Day. Hartford Hospital, along with many other landmarks and institutions across the nation, recogizes this day by lighting up green — the official color symbolizing injury prevention.
This is just one way the Hartford Hospital trauma team supports awareness of gun violence prevention, fall safety and motor vehicle crash prevention - with a special focus on impaired driving.
According to NHTSA, more than 13,000 people are killed in drunk-driving crashes annually. Nearly one person is killed in the U.S. every 39 minutes in a drunk-driving crash. Prevent tragedy: use a rideshare program, designate a sober driver, or stay overnight before driving.
