The Able Table dedication at the Barnes Nature Center in Bristol on Friday was incredible in so many ways. We had perfect weather, a great crowd, a blessing from Pastor Al, a ribbon cutting with Mayor Ellen Zoppo, Councilman Greg Hahn, Fern Vaughn from the Nature Center and Tom Barnes, approval from Emily the dog, lunch donated by Cravings, and brownies from Kevin Prior! Thank you to Chris Gann for the amazing artwork, Fern Vaughn, Scott Heth and Tom Barnes for all of their support, and everyone that came and made the day so special!

Happy 1 year anniversary to Blue Back Square's Able Table, an initiative with The Able Table that was created in partnership with The RiseUP Group and CT Murals and painted by Julie Bergeron Art 🤩💕

Able Table is a unique, universally accessible picnic table that serves as both a community asset and an art installation. Its multifunctional design includes wheelchair access, stroller-friendly seating, accessible seating options, and provides easy access for facilitators like parents, teachers, or counselors who can stand in the table’s center gap allowing them to reach everyone without having to lean over a bench!💫🌟

What a difference a year makes! The Able Table is now in schools, parks, senior centers, nature centers, and playgrounds across CT! ❤️

Polytab fabric, which is similar to parachute material, is used to wrap the able table to make it and the artwork applied last longer.
