Malta House of Care

Malta House of Care Providing free primary health care to uninsured CT adults since 2006. www.maltahouseofcare.org

The Malta House of Care Clinic has been providing free primary health care to uninsured adults in Greater Hartford since 2006. Thanks to a small paid staff and passionate corps of medical volunteers, Malta has provided more than 60,000 free visits to about 10,000 patients — and counting. As an independent non-profit, Malta receives no public funding, but instead is supported 100% by philanthropy —

more than $1 million per year from corporations, foundations, family funds, individuals, and other non-profits like Trinity Health of New England and the Archdiocese of Hartford. Together with our supporters, we strive to reduce geographical and financial barriers to health care and provide a path to better health for thousands of adults who might otherwise turn to the ER for care — or receive no care at all.

Twenty years ago, a simple question sparked Malta House of Care: What more could we do? Today, we’ve delivered over 87,000 free patient visits — and we’re still answering the call. Where you live can predict how long you live. That difference is not explained by biology. It is explained by access. Learn more and read the full story in our Spring Newsletter! https://maltahouseofcare.org/20-years-of-answering-the-call/

For 20 years, Malta has provided consistent, relationship-based primary care to help move patients from crisis to stability—and from uncertainty to trust. In doing so, it changes not only health outcomes, but lives. That work would not be possible without our extraordinary volunteers. They are the heart of our mission—bringing skill, compassion, and commitment to every patient.
During Volunteer Appreciation Week, we celebrate the clinicians, board members, and supporters who give their time and talent to strengthen this work. Thank you for all you do for so many!
