✨ Therapist Spotlight of the Week: Ashley Evans✨

We’re so excited to highlight Ashley, one of our amazing Occupational Therapists! 💙

Ashley earned her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from the University at Buffalo in 2018—but that’s just the beginning of her story! While in school, she was a Division 1 student-athlete on the women’s soccer team ⚽️, a tutor, a youth coach, and worked in childcare. Talk about dedication!

Ashley has experience working with children and young adults from 6 months to 21 years old, and she truly loves every second of it. She believes that every child has incredible resilience and beauty, and she brings that mindset into every session. 🌟

She’s continued to grow her skills with training in:
• Sensory Integration
• DIR/Floortime
• Feeding Therapy

Ashley is always learning and finding new ways to support the kiddos and families she works with—because teamwork makes all the difference. 💕

When she’s not at work, Ashley loves to travel 🌍 She also enjoys taking care of her two dogs and cat (Hogan, Honey and Gatorade). She’s inspired by different cultures and ways of life, and lives by this quote from Helen Keller:

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

That team mindset is exactly what makes Ashley so special—she partners with each child and family to help them succeed every step of the way. 💫

🎯✨ Speed, Focus & Fun in Action! ✨🎯

Today we worked on timing, speed, crossing midline, and hitting targets—all through play! These skills help with reading, writing, and everyday activities 💪
Our kiddos are learning and growing while having a blast! 💙

Preparing our bodies to try new foods—one playful step at a time! 🎲🥣🍪

We’re taking a multi-purpose approach by using play to gently expand limited diets. Through fun, hands-on activities, kids can explore new textures, build confidence, and feel more comfortable with trying something new.

And the best part? It’s always FUN! 💛

✨We haven’t shared our beginning-of-the-year spotlight yet — because we were waiting to celebrate something truly extraordinary.🎉

This month, we are honored to spotlight our founder, Irene R. Ingram, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the South Carolina Occupational Therapy Association.💛

A native of Hartsville and founder of Therapeutic Designs and Services, Irene has devoted more than 45 years to pediatric occupational therapy. Since graduating in 1978 from the Medical University of South Carolina, she has served as a clinician, educator, mentor, and innovator — shaping not only individual lives, but the profession itself.

Irene’s dedication to learning is legendary. She has extensive research, protocols and knowledge around Torticollis and developing symmetry as an infant. Her advanced training spans sensory integration; sensory processing and defensiveness; Therapeutic Listening, Samonas Sound Therapy, and AIT; cranial sacral therapy through the Upledger Institute (including Pediatric CST, Brain Speaks, and cranial nerve treatment); visceral manipulation; lymphatic drainage; reflex integration; visual development; hand function; postural control; Lindamood-Bell programs; and extensive study in holistic and integrative approaches to healing.

Her creativity has expanded how many of us understand development — especially the connection between emotion, symmetry, movement, reflexes, and functional outcomes. Through courses like “Emotion to Motion,” she has encouraged therapists to see healing as layered, integrated, and deeply human.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Irene is also deeply devoted to her family. She and her husband are proud parents of two sons and daughters-in-law, and joyful grandparents to four grandchildren — a role she treasures just as much as her work in the clinic.🥰

Beyond credentials and certifications, Irene models something even more powerful: lifelong curiosity, humility in learning, and an unwavering belief in every child’s capacity to grow and thrive.

This ✨Lifetime Achievement Award✨ is not simply recognition of years served — it is recognition of profound impact. Through mentorship, education, and a clinic that has supported generations of families, Irene has strengthened occupational therapy across our state.

We are proud. We are grateful. And we are honored to celebrate her leadership, her innovation, and her heart for this profession.❤️

🌟 Therapist Spotlight: Beverly Cannarella, M.S., CCC-SLP 🌟

We are over the moon to spotlight one of the very best in the P*e Dee area — Beverly Cannarella!
Beverly graduated from USC with her Master’s in Speech Pathology in 1978, which means she brings an amazing 47 years of experience to our clinic. She has proudly maintained her memberships with ASHA and SCSHA throughout her entire career.

She has served children across several settings, including 23 years in the Hartsville area and the Darlington County School District. For the past 16 years, she has been an essential part of the TDS family, working both part- and full-time.

If you know Bev, you know she comes to work every day filled with joy, excitement, and passion. She says her greatest fulfillment comes from seeing a child’s smile or a parent’s happiness over their child’s progress. Those moments keep her inspired and motivated to continue making a difference in the lives of the little ones she serves. 💛✨

Please help us celebrate Beverly and the incredible heart and dedication she brings to our clinic and community!
