If your child has a high fever, red spotted rash, runny nose, watery eyes, and cough, please call the McLeod Health Measles Call Center at (843) 777-7070 before going anywhere.

Measles is highly contagious, and we all need to work together to protect our most vulnerable — especially newborns who have not yet received their immunizations.

Kindly refrain from walking into the office if you or your child are experiencing these symptoms. Calling ahead helps protect other families and healthcare workers.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe. ❤️

If you have been exposed to Measles or believe you have symptoms of Measles, please contact the McLeod Health On Call Measles Line at (843) 777-7070 before arriving at a McLeod facility, urgent care center or doctor’s office.

This allows the care team to prepare appropriate isolation precautions and protect other patients, visitors, and healthcare workers.

A member of our team will review your symptoms with you, the date of when you were possibly exposed, and provide guidance on which McLeod facility you should visit based on your location. The staff member will also call ahead to the facility to inform them that you are coming in with a suspected case of measles so they can greet you and take the necessary precautions.

Please wear a mask when you enter the facility.

Newly released data from the CDC shows a worrying increase in measles cases across the country. Another 145 measles cases were confirmed last week, bringing the total so far this year to 733. At this time last year, there were only around 65 cases.

Measles cases have been reported in 20 states and 85% have been among children and teens. Cases have been spreading rapidly in South Carolina, where an outbreak started last fall, as well as in Arizona and Utah.

The AAP recommends children receive the two-dose MMR vaccine series for the strongest protection against measles. Read the full piece in AAP News: https://bit.ly/4qX7Ydz
