Leslie Fontaine
Leslie Marie Rojas Fontaine, 59, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 4, 2026, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She bravely endured a strenuous 5 1/2 year battle with bladder cancer and leukemia. Through it all, Leslie never allowed her illnesses to dim her fire, strength, or spirit.
Leslie was born on December 24, 1966, in Port Sulphur, Louisiana, the beloved daughter of Barbara Buras Brown and Leslie J. Rojas. She was a proud, lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish.
On September 5, 1999, Leslie married the love of her life, William Scott Fontaine, in a small and intimate ceremony in Buras, Louisiana. They recently celebrated 26 wonderful years of marriage. Just three months later, on December 23, 1999, Leslie welcomed her one and only child, Skylar Renea Fontaine—her greatest joy and the center of her world. Leslie was Skylar’s biggest cheerleader, her constant supporter, and her proudest fan. Sharing birthdays just one day apart, the holidays were always filled with extra love, laughter, and celebration.
Leslie devoted her life to her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. She spent many years as a stay-at-home mother, raising Skylar with endless love, patience, and care. When Skylar became a teenager, Leslie returned to the workforce, where she worked for six years for Joan Strohmeyer at the Lighthouse Lodge & Villas. She was deeply loved and admired by her employer and coworkers alike.
A true warrior, Leslie embodied the meaning of strength, resilience, and unconditional love. She fought cancer courageously and defied the odds time and time again. She will be remembered for her humor, generosity, empathy, and kind heart. Her nieces and nephews fondly recall being spoiled with candy and treats. Leslie loved listening to Elvis Presley and George Strait, enjoyed seafood, oranges, steak, Hershey’s chocolate, and a cold Coca-Cola, and was known as an incredible cook. She loved watching Bravo, Fox News, and Lifetime. Above all, she adored animals—especially her two rescue dogs, Sapphire and Jack, who brought her immense comfort and joy.
Leslie is survived by her loving husband, William Scott Fontaine; her daughter, Skylar Renea Fontaine; her son-in-law, Gage Joseph Moak; her beloved dogs, Sapphire and Jack; her sisters, Lettie Marinovich, Melinda Barrois, Terry Landry, Joyce DeMolle, and Theresa Pierce; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Barbara Buras Brown and Leslie J. Rojas; her beloved dog, Bella Rose Fontaine; her sisters, Melissa Brown and Shirley Hess; and her brother, Jackie Wayne Rojas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Leslie’s memory to Take Paws Rescue in New Orleans, the organization from which Leslie adopted her cherished dogs, Jack and Sapphire.
A Celebration of Leslie's life will be held at a later date.
