About Us
I am Traci Wells, founder of Education Consulting & Advocacy. I became an education consultant and advocate to help families navigate a complex and confusing system for many outside the education world. Having worked as a certified English/Language Arts teacher and School Counselor for the past 14 years, I understand the laws, organization procedures, and language of schools. I want to use this knowledge to help you obtain the best, most appropriate education available for your children. As a teacher, I have experience working with families to help identify their child's needs, refer to appropriate supports, and implement Individualized Education Plans, 504s, behavioral plans, and other accommodations. As a counselor, I have a strong understanding of Individualized Education Plan, 504, behavioral intervention, and social/cultural accommodations development, as well as the procedures and requirements for each. My skills will help your child receive the education plan and interventions they deserve. I am also a mother of two children with medical conditions requiring accommodations at school. I know how challenging it can be to face a room full of professionals alone, even when you have a strong understanding of the education system. Consultants & Advocates provide the following services:
*Comprehensive review of education records.
*Review of IEP, 504, and other service plans.
*Attendance at school meetings to advocate for students and support parents.
*Facilitate understanding of education procedures, documents, and laws.
*Assistance corresponding with schools and agencies (letters, e-mail).
*Aid in development of measurable goals and action plans.
*Referrals to evaluation, therapeutic, and legal services as needed.
*Assistance with writing complaints to the State Department of Education and/or the Office of Civil Rights.
