Remember that grief can take many forms and not occur only at the time of a loss. Anticipatory grief can happen when a loved one receives a medical diagnosis, such as cancer or Alzheimer's disease. Delayed grief can take place when feelings are set aside for a period of time. Grief is complex, and each person experiences it differently. Keep in mind it can have physical symptoms, from fatigue and restlessness to heart and stomach issues. This is why we encourage everyone to take care of themselves at all times, and especially when grieving.
