Going up and down stairs with a walker after surgery can seem daunting. We've put together a simple how-to that you can use to help manage the stairs safely.

Going Up ⬆️
1. Place your walker sideways with the opening towards you. Firmly grasp the stair rail with one hand and your walker with the other.
2. The walker's legs should be against the stair riser with all 4 legs in contact with the stairs. Step up with the non-surgical leg and follow with the surgical leg until both are on the same step

Going Down ⬇️
Repeat Step 1 of walking upstairs, then step down with the surgical leg and follow with the non-surgical leg.

It's important not to attempt stairs until released by your surgeon. If you need pre or post-surgical care, we're here to help.

Most athletes don’t realize what their form looks like until they see it on video 📹. That’s exactly what happened here. Our middle school football player was hitting the weight room with his team and thought everything felt fine, until we broke down his hip hinge. At first, his spine was arched and his pelvis tucked under. That pattern might not cause pain today, but over time it can put stress on the back and limit strength gains. 💥 With some mobility work and a PVC pipe on his back for feedback, he learned how to hinge at the hips instead of the spine. The difference? A stronger, safer pattern that will carry over to every lift on the field and in the gym. 🏈💪 This is what physical therapy is all about: building better movement patterns so athletes can play harder, longer, and with less risk of injury. 👉 Parents, do your athletes know what their form actually looks like?

📰 Extra, extra! Big news in Texas healthcare! Starting September 1, 2025, you’ll be able to see your physical therapist for up to 30 days without needing a doctor’s referral.

Why does this matter? Because when you’re hurting, the last thing you want is to wait weeks for another appointment just to get started. Now, you can skip the referral delays and come straight to us for things like:
✅ Back or neck pain
✅ Sprains & strains
✅ Sports injuries
✅ TMJ or jaw pain
✅ Headaches
✅ Balance problems

⚠️ A few insurances (like Medicare, Medicaid, or certain HMOs) may still require a referral, so check your plan. But for most Texans, this means faster access and faster healing.

💪 Don’t wait. Start your recovery right when you need it. Beginning Sept 1, just call us, book online, or walk in — we’ll take it from there.
