🦵✨ Tendon Tuesday✨🦵

Tendons don’t get the spotlight like muscles… but they do a whole lot of the heavy lifting 👀

These strong, rope-like tissues connect muscle to bone and store elastic energy every time your horse runs, turns, stops, and launches out of a barrel or toward a cow. When tendons get overloaded, restricted, or inflamed, it doesn’t just show up as heat or swelling — it shows up as:
• Shortened stride
• Reluctance to engage
• Stiffness through the limb
• Compensations up the body

Here’s the part most people miss: tight muscles and poor biomechanics *increase* tendon strain. That means bodywork isn’t just about muscles — it’s about reducing unnecessary tension so tendons aren’t doing more than their share.

Healthy tendons = smoother movement, better performance, and fewer injuries 💪🐴
Give those hard-working legs some love this week!

✨ **Don’t Sleep on Ground Poles** ✨

They might look simple… but ground poles are one of the most powerful tools you can use for your horse’s body and brain 🐴💥

Ground poles help:
• Improve stride length and timing
• Build topline and core strength
• Encourage proper joint flexion
• Increase body awareness and coordination
• Reduce uneven loading and compensations

Every step over a pole asks your horse to lift, engage, and think. That means stronger muscles, better biomechanics, and fewer wear-and-tear patterns showing up in bodywork sessions.

I see it every week — horses that work poles consistently come in looser, more balanced, and easier to keep aligned. It’s not about speed… it’s about *quality of movement*.

So next time you’re out at the barn, toss a few poles down and let them do their magic ✨
Your horse’s body will thank you later 💪🐎

January is more than just a fresh calendar—it’s a reset button for our horses too ❄️🐴

After the hustle of the holiday season, colder temps, shorter daylight hours, and often less consistent riding, horses tend to get tighter, stiffer, and a little out of balance. Muscles that aren’t being used as regularly can lose elasticity, circulation can decrease, and small compensations can quietly turn into bigger issues if left unaddressed.

Equine bodywork in January helps:
• Loosen tight, cold muscles
• Improve circulation and joint mobility
• Support recovery from a busy fall/winter schedule
• Address soreness from footing changes and weather-related stiffness
• Set a strong, comfortable foundation for the year ahead

Think of it as maintenance, not a luxury. Starting the year with a comfortable, balanced horse allows for better movement, improved performance, and a happier mindset—whether you’re legging back up, staying lightly in work, or preparing for spring goals.

A little bodywork now can save a lot later. Start the year by investing in your horse’s comfort, longevity, and overall well-being 💫

✨2026 Sponsored Rider ✨

Hi! I’m Rebecca Kendall and I’m currently in my 3rd year at UWRF studying equine science. I have been barrel racing for about 5 years. My main horses are Lyla, Willow, Sugar, and Armani. I also have some younger up and comings: Fendi, Balenci, Prada, Versace, Chanel and Louie! For the 2026 season my goal is to compete on my first ever futurity c**t as well as making sure my young ones have a solid foundation to ensure success in the future. Good luck to everyone in the upcoming season!

✨ 2026 Sponsored Rider✨

Hi I’m Amber & I’m SO excited to be representing Gold Star Equine for the 3rd year alongside my barrel ponies JST Hickaboon Holly (Popper) & Dun It In A Snap (Snap)!

Popper is my main gal these days and packs a whole lot of personality and athleticism into a tiny package. She’s a gritty little mare who loves to work - when we’re not running barrels, you’ll probably find us working some cows or hitting the trails.

Snap has had the last year off from competing to get fat and sassy while I focused on seasoning Popper, but will be making his return to the barrel pen this spring. As a proud member of the PSSM club, GSE has played a vital role in keeping Snap’s muscles happy the last several years.

Going into 2026, my biggest goal is to trust my training and add a lot more hustle in order to tap into both horses’ potential on the pattern. Outside of the barrel pen, I’m also hoping to log 100+ trail miles with each horse. I’m so thankful to have Shania/GSE making sure everyone is feeling their best as we make 2026 our best year yet!

As we close out 2025, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every client, collaborator, and supporter who trusted me and helped this business grow. The connections built this year have meant more than words can say, and I’m incredibly grateful for the continued support. Here’s to growth, new opportunities, and even stronger partnerships in 2026. Happy New Year! ✨

With cases of equine herpesvirus appearing in other states, it’s natural to wonder which signs to watch for and what steps help prevent disease. Good biosecurity and early recognition are key to protecting your horse’s health. 🛡🐴
