During her time with us, she has completely turned our activities program around. She comes in happy to share her time with our residents everyday. Our residents' faces light up as soon as she walks in the door. Lisa is always so creative introducing new activities every month ! Thank you Lisa Cook for everything you do. “I won’t be here that long.” When Viola moved in, she came in discouraged and upset about leaving her previous home. Viola arrived in a wheelchair with no plans of walking again, no interest in activities, and zero intentions of getting to know anyone.

But sometimes, all it takes is a simple comfort to begin a new chapter. For Viola, it started with a hot cup of coffee. From that moment on, she slowly began to open her heart to her new home…and to us.

Today, Viola walks independently with her walker, a milestone that fills both her and our team with pride. She’s discovered how to do jigsaw puzzles, loves playing “Kings on the Corner” with staff, and has found joy in being the life of the party like singing songs, truly becoming the star of the show! Her jokes, stories, laughter, and radiant smile brighten every day.

Her story reminds people that residents here aren’t defined by circumstance, they’re individuals with vibrant lives who connect with others in ways they didn’t expect. Each resident brings their own personality, humor, and heart that make our communities feel alive. Viola reminds us that even when change feels hard, joy, friendship, and new beginnings are always possible. And that’s the beauty: we’re made up of amazing, thriving people, just like her.
