Internal conflict in DID systems often doesn’t sound like arguing — it feels like overwhelm, urgency, or the need to get away from yourself.

This session reframes those moments as meaningful shifts, not setbacks. When survivors can stay with even a small amount of that tension, they begin to build regulation, deepen internal trust, and support more integrated thinking.

Conflict isn’t the problem — avoiding it is.

Join us as we explore these push–pull dynamics and offer grounded, practical ways to support survivors through these pivotal moments.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

âś… Identify how internal conflict in dissociative systems presents through emotional dysregulation, overwhelm, and avoidance of internal awareness.
âś… Explain how conditioned survival pathways are reinforced through automatic responses to internal distress.
✅ Recognize fear of self—particularly toward internal child parts—as a protective response within the internal system.
✅ Describe how increasing a survivor’s capacity to tolerate internal discomfort supports movement away from conditioned survival pathways and toward increased regulation and internal stability.
âś… Demonstrate understanding of how self-compassion and internal curiosity support rehumanization and greater internal cooperation.

Happy Thursday đź’ś

As a reminder, we are accepting new patients at this time. We work primarily with individuals, couples, and families in Logan Township, Blair County and Cambria County, PA, but accept teletherapy clients with commercial insurance from all over Pennsylvania.

We are currently able to accept the following insurances:
Aetna, Amerihealth Caritas, Cigna, Gateway Health Plan, Geisinger, Government Employees Health Assoc., Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (and other BCBS products), Medicaid (currently only for Blair County despite our best efforts with Cambria County's MCO), Magellan, Medicare, Optum, United Healthcare, and UPMC. We encourage calls if you do not see your insurance listed to inquire about coverage. We also accept private pay clients.

Please feel free to share. As always, thank you for your support and please be mindful of the confidentiality of others 🫶

Across every country, every language, every life…

The meaning stays the same.

A semicolon is a pause — not an ending.
A choice to continue, even when it’s hard.

Today, we stand together in that choice.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month đź’™

As licensed mental health providers, we want to take a moment to highlight something that often goes unseen—child abuse and neglect don’t always leave visible marks, but their impact can last a lifetime.

Children rely on the adults around them to create safe, stable, and nurturing environments. When those needs aren’t met, it can affect their emotional regulation, relationships, self-worth, and overall development. The good news is that prevention is possible—and it starts with awareness, support, and community.

Protecting children isn’t just the responsibility of parents or professionals—it’s something we all play a role in. Checking in on families, offering support instead of judgment, and speaking up when something doesn’t seem right can make a real difference.

If you’re a parent or caregiver who is feeling overwhelmed, please know you’re not alone—and asking for help is a sign of strength, not failure. Early support can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

Let’s work together to create a community where every child feels safe, valued, and protected.

Things will be okay. You just need to adjust what “okay” means.

Thissssss!!

If you grew up feeling like your needs were too much, apologizing for having them probably became automatic.

"I'm sorry I got so emotional." "I'm sorry I need so much reassurance." "I'm sorry for being a burden." Most people don't even realize they're doing it. It just feels like the polite thing to say.

But apologizing for your needs teaches the people around you that those needs are a problem. Gratitude does something completely different. It acknowledges what someone gave you instead of shaming yourself for needing it.

"Thank you for holding space for me" lands in a completely different place than "sorry I got so emotional." Same moment. Totally different message.
