Sometimes healing looks like paint spilled across the floor, little footprints stamped in every direction, and toys covered in color. 🎨🚜

For kids who have experienced trauma, play is more than “just play.” It’s their language, their way of making sense of feelings too big for words. Through Child-Centered Play Therapy, children are given the freedom to express, process, and heal—without judgment and without pressure.

In this space, paint isn’t a mess, it’s a message. A toy truck covered in color isn’t ruined, it’s a story unfolding. Footprints aren’t mistakes, they’re steps toward resilience.

💜 Every splash, every mark, every choice is a reminder: children don’t need to talk their way through trauma, they need a safe place to play their way through it.

Bobbi Mason, one of our dedicated therapists here at New Dimensions, has officially formed her own LLC — Child Focused Counseling! 🧸

While Bobbi will continue providing services under New Dimensions for now, she’s laying the groundwork for her future practice, which will specialize in supporting children and families through play therapy and child-centered approaches.

Same location, same care — just a new name on the horizon. Stay tuned for updates as Child Focused Counseling continues to grow! 💛

🎨 Sometimes healing looks like a big purple mess on a wall.

In Child-Centered Play Therapy, children are in charge of their play — within safe and respectful boundaries. Most days, painting the wall would be a moment where I gently step in and set a limit. But not today.

Because sometimes, a child needs just one place where it’s okay to let go — of control, of fear, of expectations — and just be.

Tonight, one young child got 45 minutes of freedom. 45 minutes of not having to hold it all together. 45 minutes of giggles and messy hands and joy. 45 minutes where trauma didn’t get to be the boss.

This isn’t how most therapy looks. And that’s the point.

This might just look like a mess of purple paint, but to us, it's so much more. In Child-Centered Play Therapy, every brush stroke, every splash, and every choice tells a story. With just a bit of attention, a safe space, and the freedom to explore, a child can process big emotions, build trust, and begin to heal.

Sometimes therapy looks like talking. Sometimes it looks like paint on the walls, the floor, and everything in between. 💜
